The Role

We are seeking an experienced Installation Developer with 7-12 years of software development experience and strong expertise in Windows and/or Linux environments to design, develop, and maintain reliable software installation and deployment solutions. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of installation technologies, demonstrated programming and scripting skills, and experience working collaboratively in an Agile development environment. The candidate should also be able to effectively leverage AI-assisted development tools to improve productivity, accelerate troubleshooting and development, enhance testing and documentation, and deliver high-quality software solutions while applying appropriate engineering judgment to validate AI-generated code and recommendations.

  • Design, develop, test, and maintain installation packages and deployment solutions for Windows and Linux platforms.
  • Utilize Windows Installer and other installation technologies to deliver reliable, maintainable, and scalable installation solutions.
  • Develop and maintain installation tools, automation, and scripts using C#, PowerShell, Bash, and C++.
  • Leverage InstallShield for advanced installation packaging, configuration, and deployment requirements.
  • Effectively utilize AI-assisted development tools to accelerate coding, scripting, debugging, troubleshooting, testing, code review, and technical documentation.
  • Apply engineering judgment to review and validate AI-generated code and recommendations, ensuring solutions meet established standards for correctness, security, performance, and maintainability.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define installation requirements, deployment strategies, and technical solutions.
  • Work with container technologies, such as Docker and Kubernetes, to support modern deployment environments.
  • Integrate installation and deployment processes with version control systems such as Git and Perforce and automated CI/CD pipelines.
  • Support database configuration and connectivity requirements for SQL and NoSQL database systems as part of installation and deployment workflows.
  • Troubleshoot, debug, perform root-cause analysis, and resolve complex installation and deployment issues.
  • Develop automated tests and validation processes to improve the quality and reliability of installation solutions.
  • Follow Agile development practices and established software engineering standards to deliver high-quality solutions in a timely manner.
  • Identify opportunities to improve installation processes through automation, AI-assisted development, and adoption of modern engineering practices.
What You'll Need
  • 7–12 years of software development experience, preferably involving software installation, deployment, build, release, or related technologies.
  • Strong knowledge of Windows and/or Linux operating systems, including software installation, configuration, and deployment concepts.
  • Strong experience with Windows Installer technology and InstallShield, or comparable enterprise installation technologies.
  • Strong proficiency in one or more relevant programming and scripting languages, including C#, C++, PowerShell, and Bash.
  • Experience with container technologies, such as Docker and Kubernetes, and an understanding of containerized software deployment.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively use or rapidly adopt AI-assisted software development tools to improve coding, debugging, testing, troubleshooting, documentation, and overall engineering productivity.
  • Ability to critically evaluate and validate AI-generated code and technical recommendations, applying sound software engineering principles and appropriate human oversight.
  • Solid understanding of software installation and deployment processes, CI/CD, automation, and software engineering best practices.
  • Experience working in an Agile software development environment.
  • Familiarity with SQL and NoSQL database technologies and their installation and configuration requirements.
  • Experience with version control systems such as Git and Perforce.
  • Strong problem‑solving, debugging, and analytical skills, with the ability to investigate complex technical issues and develop sustainable solutions.
