The Role We are seeking an experienced Senior Manager, Software Development, with a focus on software installation and deployment technologies, to lead the design, development, and continuous improvement of installation and deployment solutions for our software products across Windows, Linux, and containerized environments. The ideal candidate will also embrace AI-assisted software development, leveraging AI tools to improve engineering productivity, accelerating troubleshooting and development, enhancing test coverage and documentation, and drive continuous improvement while ensuring AI-generated solutions are appropriately reviewed and validated.
Lead the architecture, development, optimization, and maintenance of installation and deployment solutions across Windows, Linux, and container-based platforms. Lead, manage, and develop a team of software engineers, providing technical direction, coaching, performance management, and career development. Establish and drive best practices for the use of Windows Installer, InstallShield, and other installation and deployment technologies. Guide the development and maintenance of installation tools, automation, and scripts using C#, C++, PowerShell, Bash, and other appropriate technologies. Drive the effective adoption of AI-assisted development tools and practices to improve developer productivity, code quality, testing, troubleshooting, documentation, and deployment automation. Establish appropriate practices for reviewing and validating AI-generated code and recommendations, ensuring solutions meet engineering standards for security, reliability, maintainability, performance, and intellectual property considerations. Collaborate with architecture, development, quality assurance, DevOps, security, product management, and other cross-functional teams to define and evolve installation and deployment requirements, architecture, and standards. Integrate and continuously improve installation and deployment processes within version control systems such as Git and Perforce and automated CI/CD pipelines. Apply Agile development principles and engineering practices to deliver high-quality solutions predictably and efficiently. Evaluate emerging technologies, including AI-enabled development and automation capabilities, and provide strategic recommendations on tools, architectures, and engineering process improvements.
