Software Design Manager - L2/L3/Cloud
Responsibilities
- Provide direct and ongoing leadership for a team of individual contributors designing and developing new products, enhancements, and updates for end‑user applications on local, networked, and Internet-based platforms.
- Manage headcount, deliverables, schedules, and costs for multiple ongoing projects, ensuring resources are appropriately allocated to meet program and organizational roadmaps.
- Communicate project status, escalates issues to program managers, and manage relationships with outsourced partners and suppliers, setting expectations for deliverables, quality, schedules, and costs.
- Proactively identify opportunities for process improvement and cost reduction.
- Provide people‑care management, including hiring, performance planning, coaching, and career development for assigned team members.
Qualifications
- First‑level university degree or equivalent experience; advanced degree is a plus.
- Typically 10 or more years of related work experience, with 3+ years of people‑management experience.
- Extensive experience with L2/L3 Edge protocols (e.g., DHCP, PPPoE, L2TP) and deep knowledge of Layer 2 and Layer 3 protocols (VLAN, LAG, IGMP snooping, NTP).
- Proficiency in IPv6 enablement on legacy IPv4 networks, IPv6 rollout, and certification requirements.
- Strong C/Python programming skills.
- Hands‑on experience with cloud‑native deployment concepts (Kubernetes, Docker, CI/CD pipelines).
- Experience implementing or integrating modern network configuration interfaces (OpenConfig, gRPC, gNMI) and data modeling (YANG, JSON, REST APIs).
