Job summary

AngloGold Ashanti is seeking a senior metallurgical and process engineering leader within the Global Projects function. The role reports to the Engineering Director and drives technical assurance, ore characterisation, and lean engineering across major Organic Growth projects from Concept through Execution.

Requirements include 8–10 years in mineral processing and gold metallurgy, plus 5 years at Senior/Principal level with EPCM experience; Bachelor’s in Chemical/Metallurgical/Mineral Processing

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical, Metallurgical, or Mineral Processing Engineering.
• Professional/Chartered Engineer registration (e.g., CPEng, PE).
• 8–10 years in mineral processing, gold metallurgy, and plant operations.
• 5 years at Senior/Principal level within an Owner's Team managing EPCM contracts.
• Gold flow sheets experience.

Responsibilities

• Technical assurance of process deliverables and compliance with international codes (e.g., ICC).
• Lead metallurgical testwork programs, sampling campaigns, and laboratory management.
• Challenge over-design and optimize value using lean principles.
• Interface and contractor management with external EPCM teams and procurement for long-lead items.
• Lead Safety in Design (SiD), HAZID, and HAZOP reviews.

Acts as the metallurgical and process engineering discipline authority within the Global Projects function, reporting directly to the Engineering Director. The role drives technical assurance, ore characterisation, and lean engineering practices across major Organic Growth projects from Concept through to Execution.

ROLEACCOUNTABILITIES

• Technical Assurance: Review and approve critical process deliverables (PDC, Mass/Water Balances, PFDs, P&IDs) and ensure compliance with international codes like the International Cyanide Management Code.
• Testwork Governance: Lead metallurgical testwork programs, sampling campaigns, and laboratory management to align process design with ore characterisation.
• Value Optimization: Challenge over-design and process redundancy using Minimum Viable Solution (MVS) and lean owner's team delivery principles.
• Interface & Contractor Management: Manage external EPCM performance, drive complex cross-functional project interfaces, and lead technical procurement for long-lead items (mills, crushers, flotation cells).
• Safety Leadership: Participate in and facilitate formal Safety in Design (SiD), HAZID, and HAZOP reviews.

ROLE REQUIREMENTS

Education & Qualification

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical, Metallurgical, or Mineral Processing Engineering
• Professional/Chartered Engineer registration (e.g., CPEng, PE)

Experience, Knowledge and Skills

• 8-10 years in mineral processing, gold metallurgy, and plant operations
• 5 years at a Senior/Principal level within an Owner's Team managing EPCM contracts.
• Gold Flow Sheets experience
• Expert knowledge of gold processing circuits (comminution, leaching, CIP/CIL, detox), global EPCM collaboration, and the ability to make risk-informed decisions under pressure.
