Job summary

Mott MacDonald is seeking a Principal Process Engineer to lead the process design of Waste Water Treatment Plants and water systems. You will produce technical deliverables, calculations, and specifications while coordinating with the supply chain for bid analysis and ensuring quality and safety across interfaces.

Ideally, you have a degree in Chemical or Environmental Engineering with international project exposure and strong written and verbal communication skills.

Qualifications

• Degree in Chemical or Environmental Engineering from an accredited university with relevant work experience in a consultancy organization for the water sector.
• Exposure to international projects.
• Ability to work independently or as part of an integrated team with the lead office.
• Very good written and oral communication skills.
• Self-motivated with a keen interest to learn new skills and add value to the team and organization.

Responsibilities

• Undertake process design of Waste Water Treatment Plants and water systems.
• Produce technical deliverables including technical schedules and data sheets, engineering calculations (hydraulic, pump, mass balance), specifications for engineering subcontracts, and collaborate with supply chain for technical bid analysis.
• Oversee outputs such as process calculations, hydraulics, unit processes, pump calculations, capacity calculations, data sheets, and technical bid analysis of third-party process equipment.
• Communicate effectively at all levels to ensure delivery of technical excellence.
• Escalate issues that may impact time, cost, or quality.
• Support health and safety by designing in accordance with CDM regulations, standards, and codes of practice.
• Maintain close links with other engineering teams for smooth interfaces and knowledge sharing.

• Undertake process design of Waste Water Treatment Plants and water systems.
• Be responsible for producing technical deliverables including technical schedules and data sheets, engineering calculations (hydraulic, pump, mass balance), specifications for engineering subcontracts, and working closely with the supply chain for technical bid analysis.
• Oversee key outputs such as process calculations, hydraulics, unit processes, pump calculations, capacity calculations, data sheets, and technical bid analysis of third‑party process equipment.
• Communicate effectively at all relevant levels to ensure the need to deliver technical excellence is understood and implemented.
• Escalate issues that may impact time, cost, or quality before they become problems or exceed agreed timescales.
• Support the drive towards excellence in health and safety, demonstrating applied knowledge to produce safe designs in accordance with CDM regulations, standards, and accepted codes of practice.
• Maintain close links with other engineering teams to ensure smooth interfaces between disciplines; manage gaps, overlaps, and share best practice.
