Job summary

AECOM is seeking a Principal BIM Modeler for Roads, Highways and Utilities in Bengaluru/Gurugram. You will develop detailed 3D road/highway models, coordinate multidisciplinary BIM work, and perform clash detection and BIM coordination across teams.

The role requires hands-on Civil 3D/OpenRoads Designer, AutoCAD/MicroStation expertise and a track record of delivering model-based deliverables compliant with BEP and ISO 19650.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of experience in roads, highways, utilities or civil infrastructure modelling.
• Strong understanding of civil 3D modelling and multidisciplinary BIM coordination.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications and survey information.
• Experience producing accurate, coordinated models and drawings to project standards.
• Strong QA/QC, problem-solving and coordination skills.
• Ability to work independently and deliver to tight project deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Develop 3D models for roads, highways, roundabouts, earthworks, drainage and utilities.
• Create and manage alignments, profiles, surfaces, corridors, templates/assemblies, superelevation, grading and cross-sections.
• Model drainage and utilities including stormwater, sewer, ducts, electrical, telecoms and other services.
• Develop and maintain BIM models per project standards, BEP and ISO 19650.
• Perform multidisciplinary model federation and BIM coordination across disciplines.
• Carry out 3D clash detection using Navisworks or equivalents.
• 3D solid extraction from Civil 3D/ORD models for BIM coordination.
• Ensure extracted solids and federated models maintain geometry and coordinates.
• Produce plans, profiles, sections, details, schedules and model-based deliverables.
• Model health checks and BIM/CAD QA/QC.
• Manage references, model revisions, naming conventions and information exchange through CDEs.
• Coordinate with engineers, BIM coordinators, designers and other disciplines.
• Support model-based quantities, constructability reviews and digital workflows.
• Communicate effectively with project stakeholders.
• Convey technical issues, modelling constraints, clashes and proposed solutions.
• Work well in multidisciplinary and international teams.

Job Description

We are looking for a Roads, Highways, Utilities BIM Modeler with strong hands-on experience in Autodesk Civil 3D and/or Bentley OpenRoads Designer (ORD) to develop and coordinate high-quality 3D BIM models and engineering deliverables.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop detailed 3D models for roads, highways, roundabouts, earthworks, drainage and utilities.
• Create and manage alignments, profiles, surfaces, corridors, templates/assemblies, superelevation, grading and cross-sections.
• Model drainage and utilities including stormwater, sewer, ducts, electrical, telecoms and other services.
• Develop and maintain accurate BIM models in accordance with project BIM standards, BEP and ISO 19650 requirements.
• Perform multidisciplinary model federation and BIM coordination across highways, drainage, utilities, structures and other disciplines.
• Carry out 3D clash detection using Navisworks or equivalent platforms, identify conflicts and support resolution and closure.
• Perform 3D solid extraction from Civil 3D/ORD models for BIM coordination, clash detection, quantity verification and downstream applications.
• Ensure extracted solids and federated models maintain correct geometry, coordinates and model integrity.
• Produce plans, profiles, sections, details, schedules and model-based deliverables.
• Perform model health checks, self-checking and BIM/CAD QA/QC.
• Manage references, model revisions, naming conventions and information exchange through CDE platforms.
• Coordinate with engineers, BIM coordinators, designers and other disciplines to resolve modelling and design issues.
• Support model-based quantities, constructability reviews and digital engineering workflows.
• Ability to communicate effectively with engineers, BIM coordinators, designers and project stakeholders.
• Ability to clearly communicate technical issues, modelling constraints, clashes and proposed solutions.
• Good interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary and international teams.
