The Role
Reporting to the Network Manager, the Security Engineer is a technical expert in networking security, focusing on design and implementation of network security changes and supporting the network security operations team with complex troubleshooting.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and document Network Security Standards
- Create Low Level Design documents to meet High Level Design requirements
- Develop detailed Implementation Plans for all engineering activities
- Manage procurement activities for new services
- Ensure smooth transition/handover to Operations per Operational Acceptance Process
- Manage Technical Lifecycle Management for all Network & Communications services
- Support Architecture in creating and maintaining a Delivery Roadmap for Network Security
- Support Architecture in scoping high level design activities
- Support Architecture in undertaking Proof of Concept activities
- Maintain relevant skillsets to deliver change and provide high level support
- Provide escalation support to Operations for complex troubleshooting of major incidents
- Provide on‑call escalation support (rota basis) and work extended hours as required
Core Skills & Experience
- Minimum 14 years hands‑on experience of network security solutions within a global enterprise scale organization (5,000‑50,000 users) with both traditional datacenters and cloud.
- First‑hand experience designing, engineering and building resilient and scalable security solutions, ideally within finance or investment banking.
- Understanding of cybersecurity principles, global financial services business models, regional compliance standards, relevant local regulations, and applicable laws.
- Knowledge of risk and compliance concepts and application to security solutions.
- Appreciation of automation and orchestration with scripting against an API.
- Strong understanding of Layer 2, Layer 3 & Layer 4‑7 network and security technologies.
- Familiarity with testing tools, networking technologies and techniques to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical problems.
