Role Description
Working within our Design & Engineering teams, you'll create some of the world’s most iconic and ground-breaking structures and spaces that transform the world around us, from making journeys easier to opening up public places that bring people together.

Role Accountabilities
- Preparing and reviewing engineering deliverables including complex reports, proposals, presentations, and drawing packages with UK Energy Transition Team.
- High Voltage (HV) transmission and distribution substations secondary systems electrical design: P&C schematics, wiring diagrams, P&C room layout, Intelligent Electronic Design (IED) selection.
- Conducting protection coordination and developing tripping schemes.
- Taking personal responsibility for the preparation of detailed engineering documentation and leading the engineering effort for the project including providing technical and performance oversight for team members.
- Managing selected projects, project tasks/responsibilities as assigned, and/or design processes (or parts of projects) to meet agreed budget, quality, and timeframe targets.
- Delivering fully documented designs to meet client objectives and ARCADIS quality system requirements.
- Developing the technical competency of direct reports/junior team members and ensuring application of relevant international/UK standards and engineering knowledge in various projects.
- Applying engineering knowledge, techniques and tools that comply with international design standards and UK Codes & Standards relevant to the assigned project.
- Preparing documents and drawing packages for the appropriate project design submission stage complying with codes and standards, delivering the design with high quality.
- Conducting internal review and quality checks of engineering drawings and design calculations to ensure compliance with the project's requirements.
- Preparing and registering all relevant documentation and design reports and ensuring all documentation is accurate and complies with Arcadis and customer requirements.
- Leading interdisciplinary coordination as required for the project.
- Leading technical issue resolution processes.
- Liaising with other disciplines and ensuring all requirements are understood.
- Understanding scope and changes in scope when they arise.
- Using software packages as required for the design and delivery.
Qualifications And Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from a recognized university.
- 14+ years’ experience in substation Protection & Control design, preferably in a consulting environment.
- Consulting experience in UK power projects is preferred.
- Experience in CAD documentation to UK Energy standards and other international standards.
- Experience in substation processes from concept stage to construction and As-Builts.
- Excellent English written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent mathematical skills applied in engineering calculations.
- Organizational skills and proactive approach in project management.
- Ability to lead, with good influencing, motivating, and delegating skills.
- Actively continuing to develop technical knowledge and new emerging technology through regular CPD training.
- Professional registration with any leading engineering body such as IET UK is preferred.
- The ability to develop complex models in ETAP software and conduct protection coordination.
- At least 2 years’ experience in design & drafting electrical infrastructure in the UK, general familiarity with the electricity supply industry, electricity transmission and distribution practices and related topics.
- Computational design, design algorithms and automation of data manipulation.
