Kent Plc in Mumbai invites an experienced Piping Materials Principal Engineer to join our team. You will lead material specifications across all engineering stages for Oil & Gas, Refinery and Petrochemical projects, with 16–20 years of experience. Strong knowledge of ASME/API/ASTM and client standards is essential.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering from a recognized university.
  • 16–20 years of piping materials & specifications experience in Oil & Gas, Refinery or Petrochemical sectors.
  • Experience with ASME/API/ASTM standards and client specs (Aramco, ADNOC, Shell) is preferred.
  • Hands-on with material management software such as SPMAT and Aevea ERM.

Responsibilities

  • Lead piping material specification activities across conceptual to Detailed Engineering stages.
  • Perform material selection and prepare piping material specifications.
  • Coordinate with vendors and clients; review bids and technical deviations.
  • Ensure HSSEQ compliance and timely project delivery.

Job Description

About the Job:

Kent is looking for an experiencedPIPING (Material), Principal Engineerto be based in Mumbai office, whowill have around 16-20 years relevant Piping Materials & Specifications experience, mostly in the field of Oil & Gas / Refinery / Petrochemical / Chemicals sector, with large EPC companies or Engineering Consulting organizations. You should be effective with verbal and written communication skills.

Skills and Responsibilities:

In this role you will undertake the following duties

  • Piping Specification activities for Conceptual, FEED, Basic and Detailed Engineering stages of Piping
  • Material selection based on preliminary information.
  • Preparation of Piping Material Specifications to cover various services.
  • Design calculation like Pressure-Temperature rating, Pipe wall thickness, Branch Reinforcement Pad
  • Preparation / Extraction of Piping Material Take-off
  • Preparation of Material Requisition for Piping items
  • Technical Evaluation of Bids and discussion / clarification with Vendors
  • Knowledge and experience with various ASME/ API/ ASTM standards and codes
  • Conversant with Various materials like CS, LTCS, SS, DSS, SDSS, INCONEL & CU-NI.
  • Preparation / Extraction of Piping Material Take-off
  • Prioritization and planning of engineering activities and deliverables.
  • Attend meetings with Clients/ Contractors/ Vendors
  • Processing of technical deviation requests by Vendors or Contractors.
  • Hand-on Experience is using Material Management Software such as SPMAT, Aevea ERM

In addition to the responsibilities listed herein, the employee may be required to perform other ad-hoc tasks as needed or directed by the supervisor or management. These tasks will be within the reasonable scope of the employee's skills, capabilities, and role within the organization. The intent of this provision is to allow for flexibility and adaptability in meeting the dynamic needs of the organization, ensuring that operational requirements can be met efficiently. All such tasks will be assigned considering the employee's current workload and with respect to their professional development.

Knowledge/ Qualification/ Training/ Certification:

  • Masters/Bachelor of Engineering OR Bachelor of Technology in Mechanical / Chemical Engineering from Indian University (UGC approved) or from Overseas University.
  • Knowledge and experience with various ASME/ API/ NEMA/ TEMA/ ASTM, IS codes and standards as well as various Client Standard such as Aramco Material Specifications, ADNOC Group Engineering Specifications, Shell DEPs.
  • Provides resolution of technical issues related to material engineering

Communication:

  • English - Effective verbal and written communication skills, good interpersonal skills.
  • Identify/report technical concerns and solutions in a clear and concise manner.
  • Proficiency in remote collaboration tools and practices.
  • Should be able to attend and drive project and team meetings.
  • Conduct technical training session for team
