Job summary

Black & Veatch Family of Companies in Mumbai seeks an Associate Engineer - Piping Materials with 8-12 years in major oil/gas projects. You will develop piping material specifications, issue data sheets, and review vendor documents while ensuring conformance to codes and project requirements.

The role involves performing thickness and branch calculations per ASME B31.3, reviewing P&IDs, and maintaining technical files. On-site opportunities in Mumbai with a full-time schedule.

Qualifications

  • Requires a bachelor’s degree in engineering and 1+ year experience; 8–12 years preferred in oil/gas piping projects.
  • Experience developing piping material specifications and adherence to national/international codes.
  • Knowledge of ASME B31.3 and piping design standards is essential.

Responsibilities

  • Produce piping material specifications and data sheets.
  • Issue technical requisitions for piping components.
  • Review vendor offers and technical documents.
  • Perform I/P thickness, external pressure, and branch calculations per ASME B31.3.
  • Review P&ID and provide inputs; ensure project schedule adherence.
  • Maintain project technical files per company standards.

Job Summary

Under general supervision and applying knowledge gained with experience, begins functioning as a technical specialist. Continues to build on experience and gain more in depth knowledge working on larger and more complex assignments. May start to expand knowledge into other disciplines and/or functional areas.

Key Responsibilities
  • Shall be responsible for producing quality output,
  • Shall be aware of project schedule.
  • Understands the Clients Technical requirements as per documentation provided.
  • Shall be aware of basic design standards and codes.
  • Issues project piping material specification.
  • Issues Valves and Specialty piping components data sheets
  • Perform calculations of I/P thickness, External Pressure, Branch calculations as per ASME B31.3.
  • Issues technical part of requisitions for all piping components.
  • Shall be able to technically evaluate vendor offers received for all piping components.
  • Vendors documents Review and approval.
  • Maintains project technical files as per Company standards
  • Performs the inter-disciplines checking for the documents in accordance with the scope of piping material section
  • Checks sub-contracted discipline engineering documents in accordance with the scope of piping material section
  • Shall be able to handle and process material take offs and generate reports as per project requirements
  • Work exp in Smart Materials tool is an added advantage.
  • Review quality control documents if required.
  • Review P&ID and provide valuable inputs if any.
  • Shall be able to identify any foreseen technical or financial or delay risk.
Preferred Qualifications
  • A degree in Mechanical / Chemical Engineering with at least 8-12 years' experience in major oil/gas projects in the capacity of Piping Material and Specification Engineer in 3D detailed engineering environment.
  • Should have extensive expertise in developing piping material specification in.
  • Must be fully knowledgeable about National & International codes and standards for this discipline.
Minimum Qualifications

Requires a bachelor's degree in engineering from either a recognized accredited program in their home country or the country in which the professional is practicing. Minimum of 1 year related work experience. All applicants must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (if selected) which may include any/all of the following: criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search, in compliance with any applicable laws and regulations.
