Job summary

Applicantz, Inc. is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to design, build, and scale robust backend services and APIs using Node.js and TypeScript.

You will own backend architecture, ensure performance, reliability, security, and observability while delivering cloud-native solutions on AWS (ECS, Lambda, S3, SQS, API Gateway, CloudWatch). Prior experience with distributed systems and microservices is essential; React/JAVA Spring is a plus.

Qualifications

• 7-9 years of overall software engineering experience, including at least 5 years backend development.
• Strong experience developing RESTful APIs, backend services, and microservice-based applications.
• Solid understanding of data structures, algorithms, OOP, design patterns, and software architecture.
• Experience designing scalable distributed systems.
• Strong hands-on with Amazon DynamoDB (partition/sort keys, indexes, data modeling).
• Strong experience with AWS services: ECS, Lambda, S3, SQS, API Gateway, CloudWatch.
• Experience building asynchronous, queue-based, event-driven workflows.
• Hands-on with Docker and CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins or equivalent).
• Experience with testing frameworks (Jest, Mocha, etc.).
• Production monitoring, observability, incident management, and support.

• Troubleshoot production issues for customers.

• Participate in architecture reviews, code reviews, and design discussions.
• Develop automated unit/integration/API tests and monitor production apps.

Job description

We are looking for a Senior Backend Engineer with strong hands‑on expertise in Node.js, TypeScript, distributed systems, microservices, and AWS cloud technologies.

The role will focus on designing, developing, scaling, and supporting highly available backend services and APIs for customer-facing applications. The ideal candidate will have strong ownership of backend architecture, application performance, production reliability, security, observability, and cloud‑native engineering practices.

Experience with React and/or Java/Spring Boot is a plus but not mandatory.

Minimum Qualifications
