Job Summary
As a Principal Electrical Design Engineer, you will be a key leader within our multidisciplinary delivery teams on a variety of water and wastewater capital projects across the UK.
You would be based in Bangalore, Mumbai, Hyderabad, or Noida. Reporting to the Associate / Technical Director, you will be responsible for technically leading and/or managing project-related tasks to meet budget, timeframe, and quality targets.
Responsibilities
- Self-start and work both independently and as a team member carrying out production, checking, review or approval of complex electrical detailed designs including calculations, specifications, reports, and drawings.
- Lead design and advisory services relating to new and existing water and wastewater process plants, pumping stations and ancillary assets.
- Ensure safety of yourself and others through design leadership and actions.
- Provide technical delivery of multi-disciplinary projects in a Design Lead capacity, using the latest digital design techniques.
- Identify and develop innovative and optimised technical solutions based on client needs, capturing key project and technical knowledge, including innovations.
- Lead and co-ordinate work with multi-disciplinary teams (process, civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, and ICA) and ensure projects meet required technical, legislative, quality, safety and environmental standards and objectives.
- Proactively engage with various Arcadis Regional offices/teams regarding safe design requirements, flag risks at appropriate levels, resolve issues and create strong relationships with project colleagues in the regions.
- Mentor and supervise colleagues with their professional development.
- Provide line management and performance development responsibility for assigned staff.
- Oversee the work and/or development of multiple colleagues working on complex projects across multiple disciplines.
- Take responsibility for technical resource allocation, quality assurance, client feedback, and ensure effective communication of any changes/ modifications.
- Promote MEICA team capability and achievements internally and externally.
- Liaise and assist the project manager to ensure commercial aspects relating to the design team can achieve a successful result; develop plans and budgets for medium-size and/or complex tasks and monitor progress against these.
- Handle multiple management responsibilities, overseeing the work and/or development of multiple colleagues working on complex projects in a single discipline.
- Implement Design Health & Safety management for the project works.
Qualifications and Experience
- B.Tech/M.Tech in Electrical Engineering.
- 14+ years relevant experience in design of water and wastewater treatment systems, drainage and pumping stations.
- Chartered Engineer status and membership of a professional institution such as IET, InstMC or CIWEM.
- Relevant experience including leadership of the development and implementation of engineering solutions.
- Knowledge of relevant British Standards, IEC, IEEE standards is preferable.
- Demonstrated ability to lead, with good influencing, motivating and delegation skills.
- Strong command of BIM/digital/data analytics software including relevant software skills – Dialux‑Evo, Amtech, ETAP, Furse, etc.
- Knowledge of usage of Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC), Plant 3D, Revit on project design is an added advantage.
- Demonstrated delivery acumen; experience in electrical design for HV and LV systems including preparation of specifications, drawings and BIM models for medium to large scale projects related to water and wastewater treatment plants, pumping stations and other related structures, water and wastewater conveyance systems, drainage systems and flood protection facilities.
- Experience of delivering designs and reports at all stages from concept through to final project and construction delivery.
- Excellent oral, visual and written communication skills in English and experience in working with remote clients and multi‑disciplinary teams.
- Strong, self‑motivated, and assertive person capable of managing multiple assignments.
- Well‑developed interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively at all levels.
