Role Summary

We are seeking an Associate Technical Director – Civil to join our Water Civils team. The successful candidate will be based in our Bangalore, Hyderabad, Mumbai, or Noida offices and will play a pivotal role in establishing and consolidating relationships across Arcadis and our client base, managing the technical delivery and design outputs of some of the UK’s most complex water sector projects.

Responsibilities

• Lead multidisciplinary delivery teams on a variety of water and wastewater capital projects, ensuring technical excellence and timely, budget‑aligned results.
• Technically lead and/or manage the delivery of project tasks, meet budget, timeframe, and quality targets, and exceed client expectations.
• Promote and market Arcadis’ services during interfaces with clients and other sectors, contributing towards the achievement of the divisional business plan.
• Build and maintain networks within the industry and among key stakeholders through effective communication channels.
• Mentor, coach, and develop wider technical team members, supporting their growth and professional development.
• Ensure seamless delivery, implementation of project management responsibilities, and quality processes.
• Assist the UK with pursuits and tenders, providing technical expertise for complex projects and guidance on design decisions.
• Drive implementation of the latest developments in relevant design and modelling software and support adoption of future trends and technologies.
• Manage resourcing, plan workforce, and proactively identify future recruitment needs.
• Ensure compliance with Arcadis business management systems and HS&W culture across disciplines.
• Work in collaboration with other design disciplines to ensure integrity of the overall design and promote standardisation and automation.

Qualifications & Experience

• 15+ years of experience with a BSc/BEng or MSc/MEng or equivalent in a relevant discipline.
• Chartered Engineer status and membership of a professional institution such as ICE or CIWEM.
• Significant experience and track record in technical delivery of process plant systems on complex engineering projects, preferably in the water and wastewater industry.
• Experience working on design and construct projects using digital design platforms and feasibility to construction design stage delivery experience.

Required Competencies

• Sound work experience in Design & Engineering, Design & Build projects in the UK water sector for non‑linear assets (e.g., treatment plants, combined sewer overflows & pumping stations) and linear assets/utilities.
• Experience producing and reviewing hydraulic calculations, specifications, drawings, and reports.
• Working knowledge of HADES, Civil 3D, Revit, BIM, and information‑management tools.
• Ability to review buildability of proposed solutions independently and challenge designs.
• Familiarity with British and other international standards and practices, CDM regulations, and sustainability best practices.
• Strong leadership skills with a proactive approach to training, mentoring, and professional development.
• Demonstrated ability to lead complex projects and manage financial controls.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills at all levels and across regions.
• Self‑motivated, assertive, and flexible in adopting new work or challenging projects as required.
