Job summary

Poutrix is seeking a senior Electrical Engineer to lead electrical design for water projects, review drawings and reports, and ensure QA while coordinating with other design teams.

The candidate should hold BE/B.Tech in Electrical Engineering with 10–15 years’ consultancy experience in water facilities, and possess hands-on knowledge of ETAP, SKM, and DIALUX, plus strong communication and HSE awareness.

Job description

Role Objective

To take on a key role within the Water services sector, providing technical advice and leading by example where appropriate. To manage selected projects (or parts of projects) meeting budgetary, quality and timeframe targets. To build and consolidate networks within the Water industry.

Responsibilities

• Managing selected projects or components of projects, taking responsibility for quality assurance and client feedback and ensuring effective communication of any changes/modifications
• Working in collaboration with other design disciplines to ensure the integrity of the overall design
• Providing technical advice to project team members
• Reviewing and ensuring compliance in the components of the project for which are responsible, including drawings, reports, specifications and studies
• Building and maintaining effective relationships with clients on projects
• Liaising with the Project Director or Manager and the client to keep informed of all developments associated with the project
• Assisting in developing team members to their full potential
• Being familiar with, and compliant with, relevant H & S regulations and promoting a culture of awareness within the team
• Performing other duties and responsibilities as required from time to time by your manager

Key Duties & Skills

Knowledge of code & standards and practices related to the water industry. Proven design experience; including concept, preliminary, detailed, construction phases. Technical knowledge of lighting calculations, low voltage power distribution, earthing and bonding systems, cable systems and containment, lightning protection system design, cable sizing, short circuit calculations, uninterrupted power supplies, interfaces engineering to PLC/SCADA systems, and proficiency with ETAP, SKM Tool, DIALUX software. Able to carry out cable sizing, voltage drop, short circuit, arc‑flash, relay coordination and discrimination studies, lighting design, and preparation of technical specifications and design basis reports. Good appreciation of health, safety, and environmental aspects; familiar with American standards, NFPA, IEEE and IEC standards related to the water industry. Experience within a consultancy environment. Strong verbal and written communication skills, analytical and computer skills, innovative thinking, and knowledge of commercial aspects of projects.

• Working in collaboration with other design disciplines to ensure the integrity of the overall design.
