Job summary

WSP India is seeking a senior drainage design engineer to join our Infrastructure practice. You will lead concept studies, detailed design and construction drawings for urban drainage, roads and residential projects, coordinating with colleagues across offices.

You will mentor junior engineers, ensure QA, CDM, sustainability and HSE compliance, and help deliver projects on time and within budget. A collaborative mindset fits our inclusive, global design environment.

Qualifications

• Experience in drainage design on infrastructure projects (urban drainage, roads/highways, residential).
• Knowledge of design codes: Water UK Sewerage Sector Guidance, Design Manual for Roads & Bridges, Manual for Streets, Local Authority Design Guidance, SuDS Manual.
• Ability to produce infrastructure masterplans, site appraisals, technical reports, design calculations and construction drawings.
• Experience using Micro Drainage, Info Drainage and Civils 3D.
• Experience in Sustainable Urban Drainage Systems (SUDS).
• Strong communication and mentoring skills; able to lead junior team members.

Job description

The Development team helps our clients to promote, implement and manage sustainable development, from pre-feasibility through to planning consent; establish plans and provision for how an area, its accessibility and needs, will develop over time and guide sustainable future development; and develop multi-disciplinary design from concept through to detailed design and construction.

• Day to day project management in the delivery of concept studies, detailed design and construction drawings.
• The position will involve liaison with UK offices, assisting in preparation of fee proposals and financial control of projects when acting as a package project manager.
• Responsible for ensuring your projects are delivered to budget, program and technical standards and meet QA, CDM, Sustainability and HSE requirements.
• Direct line management, including mentoring and managing early career professionals, ensuring technical excellence is in everything we deliver.
• Maintain a positive working environment within the team.

Qualifications

Mandatory skills:

• Significant experience in drainage design (foul and surface water) on infrastructure projects i.e., urban drainage, roads/highways, residential,
• Knowledge of the relevant design codes such as Water UK Sewerage Sector Guidance, Design Manual for Roads & Bridges, Manual for Streets, Local Authority Design Guidance, SuDS Manual and are well versed in the preparation of drawings for contract documentation and technical approvals.
• The ability to produce infrastructure masterplans, site appraisals, technical reports, design calculations and construction drawings.
• The ability to use or direct and check the use of relevant software including Micro Drainage, Info Drainage, Civils 3D.
• Significant experience in design of Sustainable Urban Drainage Systems (SUDS).
• Strong communication skills and desire to be a part of a successful close-knit team.
• Experience and interest in mentoring junior team members.
• Proven experience taking responsibility for line management, supervision and/or mentoring junior team members.
• Cultural awareness isessential, along with the ability to work as part of a team. You will be quick to pick up new ideas and skills and be able to think laterally to generate new solutions to problems.
