Job summary

Schneider Electric in India seeks an accomplished Firmware Technical Lead to drive embedded firmware development for advanced products. You will blend hands‑on coding with technical leadership, mentoring, and project execution to ensure high‑quality, reliable firmware delivered on schedule.

You will champion system bring‑up, RTOS‑based designs, secure boot and firmware upgrades, and collaborate with hardware, software, QA and product teams to meet performance and security targets.

Qualifications

  • 15+ years embedded firmware development experience.
  • Strong Embedded C/C++ expertise.
  • Hands-on with ARM Cortex‑M33/M23/M4/M7 microcontrollers.
  • RTOS and bare‑metal firmware development knowledge.
  • Driver development, hardware‑firmware integration, and secure boot experience.

Responsibilities

  • Lead design, development, integration, and validation of embedded firmware solutions.
  • Provide day‑to‑day technical leadership to firmware engineers.
  • Drive board bring‑up and hardware‑firmware integration activities.
  • Guide debugging and resolution of complex firmware issues.
  • Mentor team members and support technical skill development.
  • Ensure compliance with firmware development processes and best practices.

Job description

We are looking for a highly skilled Firmware Technical Lead to lead the development and delivery of embedded firmware solutions for advanced embedded products. The role combines hands‑on technical contribution with technical leadership, team mentoring, and project execution responsibilities.

The candidate will serve as the primary technical authority for firmware development teams while ensuring successful delivery of high-quality, reliable, and secure firmware products.

Key Responsibilities
Firmware Development
  • Lead design, development, integration, and validation of embedded firmware solutions.
  • Develop and maintain firmware using Embedded C/C++ on ARM Cortex-based MCUs.
  • Design and implement:
    • Bootloaders, Secure Boot Mechanisms, Firmware Upgrade Managers
    • Device Drivers, Middleware Components
  • Develop low-level drivers for ADC, PWM, UART, I2C, SPI, CAN, and RS485 peripherals.
Technical Leadership
  • Provide day-to-day technical leadership to firmware engineers.
  • Break down system requirements into firmware design and implementation tasks.
  • Conduct architecture reviews, code reviews, and technical assessments.
  • Guide engineers in debugging and resolving complex firmware issues.
  • Mentor team members and support technical skill development.
System Integration & Validation
  • Lead board bring-up and hardware‑firmware integration activities.
  • Drive debugging efforts using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and other lab instruments.
  • Support system-level testing, validation, and performance optimization.
  • Collaborate closely with hardware, software, QA, and product teams.
Project Execution
  • Drive firmware execution plans to meet project schedules and quality targets.
  • Participate in effort estimation, sprint planning, and risk management.
  • Ensure compliance with firmware development processes and best practices.
  • Support product releases and customer escalations when required.
Quality & Process
  • Implement unit testing and integration testing strategies.
  • Ensure code quality through peer reviews and automated testing.
  • Participate actively in Agile/Scrum activities.
  • Maintain technical documentation and design artifacts.
Required Skills & Capabilities
Technical Expertise
  • 15+ years of embedded firmware development experience.
  • Strong expertise in Embedded C/C++.
  • Hands‑on experience with ARM Cortex-M33/M23/M4/M7 microcontrollers.
  • Strong knowledge of RTOS and bare‑metal firmware development.
  • Expertise in:
    • Driver Development, Firmware Debugging, Board Bring‑Up
    • Hardware‑Firmware Integration, Secure Boot, Firmware Upgrade Mechanisms
  • Strong understanding of communication protocols:
    • UART, SPI, I2C, CAN, RS485, Ethernet, OCPP
Domain Knowledge

Educational Qualifications
  • Tech / M.Tech in Electronics, Electrical, Computer Science, Embedded Systems, or related discipline.
  • Minimum 15 years of relevant firmware development experience.
