Job summary

SonicWall in Pune, Maharashtra, India, seeks a Principal Desktop Application Engineer to develop cloud-managed endpoint applications across Windows, macOS, and Linux. The role covers multi-platform development with C/C++, Golang, and Swift, aiming for robust client experiences through collaboration with design, QA, and product teams.

We expect extensive experience in desktop OS development, Windows kernel and driver work, macOS extensions, and security frameworks.

Qualifications

• Solid CS fundamentals across data structures, algorithms, memory management, cryptography, networking, and system programming.
• 10+ years of client-side software development with deep OS platform knowledge (Windows, macOS, Linux).
• Strong proficiency in C/C++ with systems-level expertise and kernel-mode concepts on Windows.
• Working knowledge of Golang and its concurrency model.
• Experience with Windows kernel, drivers (WDM/WDF) and Windows security architecture.
• macOS kernel extension or System Extension development and ESF familiarity.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, maintain, and release client applications for Windows, macOS, and Linux, with occasional mobile work.
• Write clean, efficient code across multiple languages including C/C++, Golang, and Swift.
• Collaborate with designers, QA, and product managers to deliver responsive user experiences.
• Troubleshoot complex issues to ensure stability and reliability of cross-platform clients.
• Participate in code reviews, architecture discussions, and engineering best practices.

Role and Responsibilities

• Design, develop, maintain, and releaseclient applications for Windows,macOS,andLinux, with occasional mobile app development.

Qualifications

• Solid computer science fundamentals in areas such as data structures, algorithms, memory management,cryptography, networking,and system programming.
• 10+ years of experience in client-side software development with a deep understanding of one or multiple desktop OS platforms, including Windows, macOS, and Linux.
• Strong proficiency inC/C++with deep expertise in systems-level programming, including kernel-mode development.Deep understanding of Windows C++ (MFC, ATL, COM/DCOM, Win32 API)
• Working knowledge of Golangand its concurrency
• Experience withWindows kernel and driver development, including WDM/WDF, kernel-mode programming, and Windows internals.
• Experience developingWindows Servicesandanunderstanding of Windows security architecture and privilege levels.
• Experience withmacOS kernel extension or System Extension development, and familiarity with macOS internals.
• Hands-on experience withmacOS security frameworks, particularly the Endpoint Security Framework (ESF), for system event monitoring and security policy enforcement.
• Experience withSwiftand/orObjective-Cfor macOS or iOS development.
• Solid understanding of networking fundamentals: TLS/SSL, tunneling protocols (PPP, ESP,WireGuard), DNS, proxies.
• Excellent problem-solving and debugging skills across multiple languages and environments.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and agile development environment.
• Skills in mobile development (iOS/Android) are a plus.
• Hands-on experience with AI coding assistance
