Job summary

AB InBev GCC India is seeking a Sr Manager - Data Engineering to lead data solution architecture and a global team of architects and data engineers. You will drive the data strategy, governance, and technology choices across platforms, ensuring scalable, secure, and high-performance analytics capabilities.

You will mentor engineers, collaborate with product managers and stakeholders, and shape architectural standards while delivering on complex data initiatives in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Must have 3+ years leading Architects/Tech Leads/Data Engineers.
• 3+ years with Azure stack or AWS equivalent.
• 3+ years building and operating large-scale data platforms.
• Experience with ETL/ELT, data modeling, and DW migrations.

Job Description

Job Title: Sr Manager - Data Engineering

Reporting to: Director of Analytics

PURPOSE OF ROLE

Leading Data Solution Architecture and a team of Architects/Data Engineers in the field of Data and Analytics.

KEY TASKS AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Responsible for the execution of the data strategy androadmap within a line of Product, or for a main platform as well as contribute new strategic ideas, technologies and solutions to business and technical challenges
• Lead Data Solution Architecture and Data Governance practice of our Global Data Platform.
• Leading directly a group of hands-on Architects and Data Engineers working in different locations/groups/countries.
• Develop and govern the implementation of technical and solution architecture standards, guidelines and practices which implement data strategies.
• Lead architectural analysis, notes, diagrams and system design for systems and features while working closely with architects, product managers and engineers
• Own E2E solution architectural vision and system design for company products and system components / microservices while interfacing with other system architects, software engineers, QA, BI analysts, data scientists, product managers
• Lead Non-Functional Requirements (NFR) from a to z and solutions for existing and new systems, data flows, performance, scalability redundancy, security, and others.
• Lead/Implement proof of concept activities for new technologies and solutions (Cloud, SaaS, open source, etc) and competing approaches to meeting functional and/or non-functional requirements.
• Innovate, identifying new data driven opportunities and pursuing the execution of hypothesis with a high level of autonomy with focus on outcomes.

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS

Education:

• Master’s or Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical training

Experience:

• At least 3 years’ experience of leading a team of Architects / Tech Leads/ Data Engineers with very strong interpersonal skills
• At least 3 years of experience with Azure (MUST) including knowledge of platform services such as Azure Gen2, Azure Blob, ADF, Sql DW/Synapse, Hadoop, Spark, Azure DevOps, Data Engineering, data pipelines, data streaming. OR Similar experience of AWS Stack
• Must have a minimum of 3 years of experience developing/architecting/solutioning on Big Data platforms
• At least 3 years of experience in developing and operating large-scale data structures for business intelligence analytics using: ETL/ELT processes; OLAP technologies; data modeling; SQL; DW Migration projects (On Prem to Cloud)

Technical/Functional Skills: (Mention any technical, functional or tool related skill in this section)

Mandatory Skills:

• Proven experience in solution architecting and refactoring complex systems, as an architect, team-leader or a senior team-member.
• Ability to lead without formal authority, serve as principal engineer and mentor to other Architects, lead tasks of several Architects and multiple engineering teams.
• Strong SQL experience with relational, MPP and NoSQL databases and Data Warehouses
• Exposure to CI/CD and DevOps practices, pipelines, containers/containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and microservices patterns
• Proven ability to understand business problems and requirements and design systems to meet both the functional AND non-functional requirements.
• Deep analytical abilities in system design and requirements decomposition

Preferred (Good to have) Skills:

• TOGAF 9/Zachman Certifications
• Azure/AWS Solutions Architect Certifications
• Experience in CPG/FMCG domain
• Experience deploying systems in cloud based architecture and strong familiarity with Linux based systems (e.g. Ubuntu)
• Expert SQL analytical abilities
• Experience in volume & performance analysis, testing and architectural patterns for solving bottlenecks
• Strong troubleshooting skills – ability to assist/lead other teams in investigation and root cause analysis and resolution
• Previous experience in Big Data and Cloud environment within enterprise product companies (not just Startups)
• Strong people management and mentoring skills
