Qualifications

• 14+ years of IT project experience, including SAP techno-functional or functional consulting.

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Principal Consultant based in India.

As a Principal Consultant specializing in SAP Data Migration, you will provide strategic leadership and oversee the successful delivery of complex, large-scale enterprise data transformation projects. You will manage multiple projects and delivery teams, ensuring alignment with business objectives, project timelines, quality standards, and financial targets. Working closely with senior client stakeholders, you will act as a trusted advisor, translating complex business requirements into effective data migration and governance strategies. You will lead multidisciplinary teams, optimize resource allocation, and drive continuous improvements in project delivery methodologies. The role combines advanced SAP expertise, program management, client relationship management, and people leadership. Accountabilities:

• Project & Program Leadership: Lead the planning, organization, and execution of multiple complex or large-scale SAP data migration projects, defining delivery strategies, project plans, milestones, and execution approaches.
• Project Delivery Management: Oversee multiple project teams and coordinate their efforts to ensure successful delivery of commitments, consistently meeting or exceeding client expectations and project objectives.
• Methodology & Process Excellence: Establish, implement, and continuously improve project management methodologies, data migration practices, governance frameworks, and delivery standards.
• Resource Planning & Allocation: Manage resource requirements across programs, delivery centers, and managed service teams, ensuring the effective allocation of project managers, technical specialists, and subject matter experts.
• Performance Monitoring & Reporting: Develop, publish, and maintain program-level dashboards, project status reports, performance metrics, and management updates to provide clear visibility into project progress and potential risks.
• Client Relationship Management: Build and maintain trusted advisor relationships with senior-level client stakeholders, ensuring strong communication, stakeholder alignment, and long-term customer satisfaction.
• Escalation & Risk Management: Address complex client escalations and operational challenges effectively, identifying appropriate solutions while protecting client relationships and minimizing the need for senior management intervention.
• Financial & Commercial Management: Maintain project profitability and engagement margins by monitoring non-billable hours, controlling expenses, and ensuring efficient resource utilization.
• Contract & Change Management: Maintain a thorough understanding of project contracts, commercial commitments, risks, and applicable policies. Identify out-of-scope activities and facilitate timely change-order discussions and approvals.
• Client Governance & Coordination: Coordinate with client Project Management Offices (PMOs), ensuring effective communication, transparent reporting, and alignment on project deliverables and priorities.
• Team Leadership & Mentorship: Lead large onshore and offshore teams, mentor junior project managers, develop team capabilities, and promote consistent application of organizational standards and best practices.
• SAP Data Migration Expertise: Apply advanced knowledge of data migration and data governance methodologies, ensuring effective use of specialized tools and compliance with prescribed development standards.
• Business Process & Technical Oversight: Guide teams in understanding business processes, data structures, migration requirements, and technical dependencies across assigned SAP functional areas.
• Documentation & Governance: Ensure accurate and comprehensive project documentation, including migration specifications, delivery plans, project status records, and governance-related materials.
• Solution Development & Innovation: Contribute to the enhancement of existing solutions and the development of new approaches that improve data quality, migration efficiency, and overall project outcomes.

Requirements:

• 14+ years of overall IT project experience, including 12–14 years of SAP techno-functional or functional consulting experience.
• Experience leading at least six full SAP implementation lifecycles, with extensive exposure to complex enterprise transformation programs.
• Expert-level business-process knowledge in one or more of the following SAP functional modules: FI, CO, MM, SD, PM, PP, PS, EHS, or HCM.
• Approximately 10–12 years of business-process experience, with the ability to connect business requirements with technical data migration strategies.
• Extensive experience in SAP data migration project and program management, including planning, execution, governance, delivery oversight, and risk management.
• Proven leadership experience managing large-scale teams, including experience as an onsite or offshore delivery lead.
• Strong proficiency in enterprise data migration platforms and tools such as Syniti ADM, ADMM, Cransoft, DSP, SAP Data Services, or equivalent solutions.
• Extensive expertise in data quality management, data migration, data warehousing, data analysis, and conversion planning.
• Strong understanding of SAP data structures, business-process dependencies, data governance, and enterprise data management principles.
• Proficiency in Microsoft SQL is preferred, including SQL query writing, database table structures, and relational database concepts.
• Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Computer Science, or another relevant analytical or technical discipline, or at least four years of equivalent relevant experience.
• Strong project management capabilities, including resource planning, financial management, contract administration, change management, and performance reporting.
• Excellent client-facing communication and stakeholder-management skills, with the ability to engage confidently with senior executives and business leaders.
• Demonstrated ability to resolve complex escalations, manage competing priorities, and make effective decisions in challenging project environments.
