Principal BIM Technician – Highways (US‑GCC T&I Team)
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal BIM Technician – Highways to join our US‑GCC T&I Team. The successful candidate will create and maintain civil highways engineering drawings using Autodesk and Bentley software, collaborating closely with engineering and CAD teams to ensure all designs meet industry standards and project requirements.
Responsibilities
- Lead the preparation of engineering drawings using WSP CAD standards and templates.
- Develop templates and libraries for CAD/BIM work.
- Align work with team workflows and maintain document control for all deliverables.
- Proactively raise queries, identify necessary inputs, and follow up with stakeholders.
- Create detailed and accurate civil highways engineering drawings using Microstation, OpenRoads Designer, and Civil 3D.
- Provide technical support and guidance to CAD/BIM technicians.
- Stay updated on industry trends and advancements in CAD technology.
- Actively manage production delivery for multiple US projects, liaising with WSP’s US‑based CAD lead and design teams to ensure delivery within agreed schedule, quality, and budget constraints.
- Work with local team and design leads to fully utilize CAD resources, identifying and addressing any surplus or shortfall in available staff/workload.
- Set clear goals for team members, monitor progress, and encourage cost‑effective solutions aligned with the programme.
Requirements
- Over 15 years of experience as a Principal/Senior BIM Technician in civil highways engineering, drafting, and modeling.
- Proficiency in Bentley software (Microstation, OpenRoads Designer) and Autodesk software (Civil 3D, Revit).
- Strong communication, problem‑solving, and team‑management skills.
- In‑depth understanding of highway engineering principles and practices.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work collaboratively, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines.
- Coordinate engineering services to ensure timely input and review of outputs.
- Maintain compliance with WSP CAD standards, suggest revisions, and document new skills.
- Proficient in MS Outlook and Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Excellent English communication skills and cultural awareness.
- Develop CAD/BIM training programs in collaboration with the Team Head to address skills shortages.
- Conduct audits of adherence to WSP Management and Quality processes and implement corrective measures.
Mandatory Skills
- Proficient in Civil3D and Microstation, including high‑ways drafting, utilities, junction and signage drawings, bridge projects, and international projects experience.
Desired Skills
- Proficient in 3D modelling, OpenRoads Designer, Microstation, and Civil 3D.
Qualifications
- Diploma in Civil Engineering with at least 15 years of relevant experience.
- B Tech Civil (if other qualification).
