Job summary

Jalappa Law College invites applications from eligible, experienced and committed candidates for the position of Principal. The Principal will provide overall academic and administrative leadership to the Law College, and ensure compliance with regulations while supervising faculty performance and examinations.

The candidate must hold a Doctorate/Ph.D. in Law, an LL.M., and at least 10 years of teaching/academic experience with strong leadership and research orientation.

Qualifications

• Doctorate/Ph.D. in Law is mandatory.
• LL.M. degree with a good academic record.
• Minimum 10 years of relevant teaching/academic experience, with demonstrated experience in academic and institutional administration.
• Experience in handling academic administration, examinations, faculty management and regulatory compliance will be preferred.
• Strong leadership skills, knowledge of legal education, research orientation and a commitment to academic excellence.

Responsibilities

• Provide overall academic and administrative leadership to the Law College.
• Ensure compliance with BCI, University, UGC and other applicable regulations.
• Supervise faculty performance, workload, attendance and academic activities.
• Monitor student attendance, discipline, academic performance and grievances.
• Ensure effective conduct of internal and University examinations.
• Promote moot courts, legal aid, internships, seminars, research and professional activities.
• Coordinate BCI/University inspections, approvals and statutory submissions.
• Develop linkages with courts, advocates, law firms, corporates and other institutions.
• Promote student placements, internships and career development.
• Maintain academic, examination and statutory records.
• Submit periodic reports to the Management/Governing Council.
• Lead initiatives for continuous improvement, institutional development and academic excellence.
