Job summary

Burns & McDonnell India is seeking a qualified Electrical Engineer to join the team in Mumbai. The role focuses on detailed design for AIS & GIS substations, ranging from 33kV to 765kV, including GA plans, elevations, connection details, grounding and lighting systems.

The candidate will perform design calculations with industry-standard software, size equipment, review drawings, and coordinate with clients. This position is full-time and based in Mumbai.

Qualifications

• B.E. Electrical is required.
• 2–6 years of experience is expected.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed engineering deliverables for AIS & GIS substations from 33kV to 765kV.
• Prepare designs to support detailed engineering drawings including layouts, connection details, grounding, lighting, and Bill of Materials.
• Perform design calculations using industry software (CDEGS, ETAP, WinIGS, Mathcad, Dialux/Visual Lighting).
• Perform equipment sizing and selection (transformers, cables, busbars).
• Review designs, attend virtual meetings, and coordinate with Clients.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed engineering deliverables for AIS & GIS substations from 33kV to 765kV
• Prepare designs to support detailed engineering drawings, including General Arrangement Plans, Elevations, Connection Details (Erection Key Diagrams), above- and below-grade conduit layouts and connection details, grounding layouts and connection details, lighting and lightning protection systems with respective details, Control House layout, and Bill of Materials
• Prepare design calculations such as Lighting, lightning Protection, Grounding, Cable Sizing, and Conduit fill calculation using industry-standard software such as CDEGS, ETAP, WinIGS, Mathcad, and Visual Lighting / Dialux
• Perform equipment selection and sizing calculations (transformers, cables, busbars, etc.)
• Review designs, attend virtual meetings, and coordinate with Clients
• Produce detailed electrical substation design packages compliant with the required client technical standards or IEC/IEEE/NESC
• Develop and improve processes and tools, and/or implement new technologies and automation into the design process
• Perform quality reviews for other engineers and designers
• Demonstrate creativity, foresight, and engineering judgment in resolving problems
• Undertake other duties and responsibilities as may be asked of this position by management
• Participate in training/meetings to address specific organizational initiatives
