Job summary

Hitachi Energy in Vadodara seeks a Senior Specialist Professional to lead tender designs for power transformers (132kV+), and to develop data sheets and costs aligned with customer specs. You will coordinate with Market and Sales to meet market needs and visit customers for critical discussions.

You will mentor junior designers, review designs, and contribute to STATCOM/ Reactor initiatives while maintaining Hitachi Energy's safety and integrity values.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering and 15+ years in electrical design for power transformers (132kV+).
• Experience in retrofitting and replacement transformer business; familiarity with STATCOM, reactors and other transformers advantageous.
• Strong understanding of transformer electrical design, thermal, dielectrics, short circuit and sound performance.
• Experience in simulation or software development is beneficial.
• Excellent organizational, collaborative mindset and ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Proficient in spoken and written English.

Responsibilities

• Lead development of tender designs for power transformers in coordination with Market and Sales Strategy.
• Prepare data sheets and cost sheets per customer specifications.
• Influence specifications at tender/pre-tender stages through concept discussions.
• Visit customers for technical discussions and review designs with the team.
• Develop and coach junior designers; review designs and ensure quality.
• Contribute to STATCOM and reactor design efforts; support retrofitting tenders.

The opportunity

Project Engineering focuses on designing, communicating, and implementing an operational plan for completing an engineering-based project including: Preparing designs, project controls and specifications, schedules, cost estimates, production, transportation, installation, testing and/or commissioning of new infrastructure, facilities, equipment, etc. Monitoring progress and performance against the project plan; taking action to resolve operational problems and minimize delays. Identifying, developing, and gathering the resources necessary to complete the project. May include preparing engineering standards, designs and work specifications; developing project schedules, budgets and forecasts; and selecting materials, equipment, project staff, and external contractors. A Specialist Professional (P4) is a recognized subject matter expert in job area typically obtained through advanced education and work experience. Responsibilities typically include: Managing large projects or processes with limited oversight from manager. Coaching, reviewing and delegating work to lower level professionals. Problems faced are difficult and often complex.

• Influence specification at the tender and pre-tender stage, through conceptual discussions.
• Visiting customers for technical discussions
• Exploring & implementing new transformer accessories
• Participation in internal design concept reviews.
• Responsible to develop and coach young designers.

Your background

• Bachelor's degree of Electrical Engineering.
• More than 15 years' experience working in Electrical design for Power Transformers (132kV & above).
• Experience in Retrofitting and Replacement transformer business
• Further experience in other products such as Shunt Reactors, STATCOM and Special transformers would be advantageous.
• Understanding of Power Transformer Electrical Design, Thermal, Dielectrics, Short circuit and sound performance and transformer mechanics
• Experience in Simulation or software development would be advantageous.
• Experience on Microsoft office and tools.
• Organised and thorough.
• A team player, open with information and willingly contributes to team discussions with an ability to work without supervision when required.
• Quick learner with ability to master new areas
• Proficiency in both spoken & written English language is required
