Job summary

Ultraviolette Automotive Private Limited in Bengaluru seeks a hands-on power electronics hardware engineer to design, build and bring into production high‑performance power electronics for automotive applications such as superbikes.

You will collaborate with firmware, mechanical engineering, PCB design, sourcing, quality, compliance and manufacturing teams to own hardware from concept to testing and production, while documenting designs and communicating technical details to stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Solid understanding of power electronics topologies for AC/DC and DC/DC converters.
• Hands-on hardware design from concept to test.
• Experience with high-power hardware design and testing.
• Familiarity with embedded systems and microcontrollers.
• Strong debugging and problem-solving skills.
• Willingness to work in a fast-paced engineering team.

Responsibilities

• Prepareand keep up to date the documentation related to design and development, aswell as effectively communicate technical and non-technical information torelevant stakeholders.

Requirements

What is required?

• Commitmentand passion towards all things engineering, in general, and power electronics,in specific. Drive towards creating new ideas and bringing them to practice.
• Strongwork ethic, bias towards action, and readiness to be outside own’s comfortzone.
• Strongbackground in and keen understanding of power electronics topologies in AC/DCand DC/DC power conversion systems.
• Experience in one or more of the following:
  1. Experiencewith designing and putting into practice the multi-kilowatt power electronicshardware and control firmware.
  2. Experiencewith voltage power semiconductor devices of voltage class ranging from 20 V upto 1200 V.
  3. Keenunderstanding of switching characteristics and loss mechanisms in different powersemiconductor device technologies such as silicon, SiC and GaN basedsemiconductors. Experience with designing gate-driver and device protectioncircuits.
  4. Experiencewith designing magnetic components such as inductors and transformers withknowledge about commonly used magnetic materials and their properties.
  5. Experiencewith designing sensing circuits, analog and digital electronic circuits.
  6. Hands-onexperience with software tools for circuit simulation (LTSPICE, PLECS, PSIM,Simulink), scripting languages (MATLAB, Python, Octave), PCB Design tools(Altium, Cadence, Mentor Graphics, Eagle). Experience with FEM tools (ANSYS,COMSOL) will also be handy.
• Highlyskilled at problem solving and debugging electronic circuits.
• Experiencewith designing systems for testing, validation, and manufacturing.
• Fairunderstanding and hands-on experience with embedded systems andmicrocontrollers will be handy.
• B.E./B.Tech/B.Scor M.E./M.Tech/M.Sc in Electrical Engineering + 3-8 years or more of relevanthands-on hardware experience in power converter design.
• Workin a fast-paced environment and with a highly motivated team of skilled engineers.
• Developstate-of-the-art power electronic systems for high-performance superbikes fromscratch.
• Exposureto different subsystems on the automotive including battery, motor inverter,charging, VCU, software and user experience.
• Forearly career individuals, a hands-on experience and cultivation of skills towardsgrowing into a well-rounded electrical and power electronics engineer.
