Job summary

Tenarai is seeking an experienced Lead Power BI Developer to drive end-to-end BI design, development, and deployment across enterprise solutions. You will lead semantic model optimization and translate complex data into actionable visuals while collaborating with data engineers and business stakeholders.

The role demands hands-on expertise in DAX, Power Query, and SQL, with prior leadership experience and strong communication skills to guide junior developers and align BI with business goals.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of hands-on experience in enterprise Power BI development and data modeling.
• Advanced expertise in DAX and Power Query / M Language.
• Strong SQL proficiency (complex queries, stored procedures, joins, and views).
• Hands-on experience with Power BI Premium/Fabric capacities, ALM, and deployment pipelines.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to articulate insights to non-technical leaders.
• Nice to have: PL-300 Certification, Microsoft Fabric (Lakehouses, Direct Lake), Azure Synapse/Snowflake, Python/R.

Responsibilities

• Dashboard & Reporting: Design and maintain high-performing, interactive Power BI dashboards aligned with UI/UX best practices.
• Data Modeling & DAX: Build robust, scalable dimensional data models (Star/Snowflake schemas) and write complex, optimized DAX calculations.
• Data Engineering & ETL: Develop efficient data pipelines using Power Query (M Language) and integrate multi-source data across cloud and on-premise environments.
• Performance Tuning: Optimize reports, queries, and DAX execution using DAX Studio, Tabular Editor, and VertiPaq engine concepts.
• Governance & Administration: Manage Power BI Service, workspace architecture, Row-Level Security (RLS/OLS), refresh schedules, and gateway configurations.
• Mentorship & Stakeholder Management: Partner with business leaders to translate functional requirements into technical specifications while guiding junior BI developers.
