• 8+ years of experience in BI, analytics, data engineering, or SQL-based development.

• Strong experience with Microsoft Power Platform and automation.
• Expert SQL skills including database design, query optimization, and data modeling.
• Experience with Databricks and cloud-based analytics solutions.
• Knowledge of dimensional modeling, star schemas, data governance, and reporting best practices.
• Advanced Excel/Access/VBA and complex business logic development.
• Experience partnering with stakeholders to translate requirements into scalable solutions.
• Experience leading Agile/Scrum teams and governance initiatives.

Our client is seeking a Power BI Developer to support a dedicated reporting and analytics team focused on modernizing a large portfolio of legacy reporting assets. This individual will serve as the a developer responsible for designing and delivering scalable Power BI solutions, driving reporting transformation initiatives, establishing development standards, and mentoring a team of BI developers.

The ideal candidate combines deep expertise in Power BI development, data modeling, and visualization with strong leadership capabilities and experience migrating reports from legacy BI platforms (SSRS, Cognos, Business Objects, Crystal Reports, Access, Excel-based reporting, etc.) into a modern cloud-based analytics ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities

Establish development standards, governance practices, and reporting best practices.

Conduct code reviews and provide technical mentorship to team members.

Drive sprint prioritization, and delivery execution.

Reporting Modernization

Assess and rationalize legacy reporting assets and dashboards.

Define migration strategies from legacy reporting platforms to Power BI.

Partner with business stakeholders to redesign reports and KPIs for modern analytics consumption.

Ensure business-critical reporting capabilities are maintained throughout the transformation.

Power BI Development

Design and develop enterprise-grade Power BI dashboards, reports, and semantic models.

Create scalable data models using star schema design principles.

Develop advanced DAX calculations, KPIs, and business metrics.

Optimize report performance, dataset refreshes, and workspace architecture.

Implement Row-Level Security (RLS) and data governance controls.

Skills and Requirements

8+ years of experience in Business Intelligence, Analytics, Data Engineering, or SQL-based application development.

5+ years of hands-on experience designing and developing enterprise-scale Power BI solutions.

Advanced experience with Power BI, including semantic models, Row-Level Security (RLS), deployment pipelines, and enterprise reporting architecture.

Strong experience with Microsoft Power Platform (PowerApps, Power Automate) and automation solutions.

Expert-level SQL skills including database design, query optimization, performance tuning, stored procedures, and data modeling.

Experience with Databricks, modern data platforms, and cloud-based analytics solutions.

Strong understanding of dimensional modeling, star schema design, data governance, and reporting best practices.

Advanced experience with Excel, Access, VBA/macros, and complex business logic development.

Experience partnering directly with business stakeholders to translate requirements into scalable technical solutions.

Proven ability to lead solution design reviews, establish development standards, and guide junior developers.

Associate's Degree required; Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field preferred. Azure Data Factory, Synapse Analytics, Microsoft Fabric, or other cloud-based data platforms.

Supply Chain, Logistics, Distribution, or Profitability Analytics experience.

AI/ML, Azure Cognitive Services, or Copilot development experience.

NoSQL database experience.

Python automation and advanced scripting.

SSRS, Paginated Reports, and Report Builder experience.

Experience leading Agile/Scrum teams.

Experience with enterprise data governance initiatives.
