Job Title: Power BI Developer @ Innominds

Experience: 3-5 Years

Job Description*

Design, develop, and maintain Power BI dashboards and reports; build optimized data models and complex DAX measures; perform data extraction, transformation, and cleansing using Power Query; integrate multiple data sources; implement Row-Level Security and data-refresh mechanisms; troubleshoot and optimize report performance; validate data accuracy; and collaborate with business stakeholders to translate requirements into scalable BI solutions.

Position/Responsibilities*

1. Dashboard & Report Development

• Design, develop, and maintain interactive Power BI dashboards and reports based on business requirements.
• Create user-friendly visualizations, KPIs, charts, graphs, and drill-down reports.
• Convert business requirements into effective reporting and analytics solutions.

2. Data Modeling

• Design and develop efficient data models using Power BI.
• Create relationships between tables and implement appropriate star/snowflake schemas.
• Develop calculated columns, measures, and KPIs using DAX.
• Optimize data models for performance and scalability.

3. Data Integration & Transformation

• Connect Power BI with various data sources such as SQL Server, Excel, APIs, Azure, SharePoint, and other enterprise systems.
• Use Power Query (M) to extract, transform cleanse, and prepare data.
• Identify and resolve data-quality and data-consistency issues.

4. DAX Development

• Develop complex DAX measures and calculations.
• Implement time-intelligence calculations, dynamic measures, and business-specific calculations.
• Optimize DAX expressions for better report performance.

5. Power BI Service & Deployment

• Publish and manage reports and dashboards in Power BI Service.
• Configure workspaces, apps, datasets, semantic models, and dataflows.
• Manage deployment across development, testing, and production environments.
• Configure scheduled and incremental data refreshes.

6. Security

• Implement Row-Level Security (RLS) and appropriate access controls.
• Manage user permissions and workspace access.
• Ensure compliance with organizational data-security policies.

7. Performance Optimization

• Monitor and troubleshoot report, dataset, and dashboard performance.
• Optimize data models, DAX queries, Power Query transformations, and report visuals.
• Use Power BI Performance Analyzer and other tools to identify performance bottlenecks.

8. Requirements & Stakeholder Collaboration

• Work closely with business users, analysts, product owners, and stakeholders to understand reporting requirements.
• Participate in requirement-gathering sessions and translate business needs into technical solutions.
• Provide demonstrations and incorporate stakeholder feedback.

9. Data Validation & Testing

• Validate data accuracy and reconciliation between Power BI reports and source systems.
• Perform unit, integration, and user acceptance testing.
• Troubleshoot and resolve reporting and data issues.

10. Maintenance & Support

• Provide production support for Power BI reports and dashboards.
• Investigate and resolve data refresh failures, report issues, and access-related problems.
• Perform enhancements and maintenance of existing reports.
