Job summary

Benison Technologies Private Limited is seeking an experienced PostgreSQL DBA for managing mission-critical 24x7 production databases. The role focuses on installation, configuration, HA, replication, DR planning, and performance tuning of EDB PostgreSQL and community editions.

You will perform patch management, log review, OS tuning guidance, and cross-team collaboration to optimize database configurations across Linux and Windows servers.

Qualifications

• 5.5–6+ years of strong experience as a PostgreSQL DBA.
• Hands-on experience with 24x7 production databases.
• Must have experience on EDB products and certifications.

Responsibilities

• Provide advanced support for Application DB hosted Azure (EDB PostgreSQL and Postgres community edition).
• Implement and manage EDB Postgres Advanced Server including HA, streaming replication, EFM, and REPMGR.
• Design and maintain high availability solutions with replication and clustering.
• Design and implement disaster recovery strategies.
• Provide on-demand support for system failures and DR/HA drills.
• Review logs to identify potential risks and performance issues.
• Handle DB patch management (minor and major upgrades).
• Monitor and optimize PostgreSQL performance; tune parameters and indexes.
• Advise on OS and DB parameter tuning and query optimization.
• Assist project teams to optimize PostgreSQL configurations.
• Restore EDB PostgreSQL using pg_restore and PITR as required.
• Work with Linux (RHEL/OEL 6-8) and Windows Server 2012-2019.
• Perform database maintenance (VACUUM, ANALYZE, AUTOVACUUM, REINDEX) and benchmarking with pgbench.

• 5.5 to 6+ years of strong experience as PostgreSQL DBA
• Experience in managing and maintaining mission-critical 24 by 7 production atabases along with installation and configuration of the database, implementing high-availability solutions, setup monitoring tools, setup database security, optimizing resources, etc.
• Hands-on experience on Shell scripting
• Must have: Experience on EDB products and Certifications.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Provide advance support for Application DB hosted Azure (EDB PostgreSQL and Postgres community edition

2. EDB Postgres Advanced Server (Implementation, Configuration, HA, Streaming Replication, EFM, & REPMGR for Postgres Databases)

3. Design, maintain and ensure high availability solutions including replication, clustering etc

4. Design, Implement Disaster Recovery strategies.

5. On-demand support for system failure, DR/HA Drill, festival support

6. Review periodic log files for PostgreSQL on proactive basis to find out potential risks and performance issues

7. DB Patch management (minor and major upgrade)

8. Postgres Performance monitoring and optimization (parameter configuration and recommendation)

9. Provide inputs on tuning OS parameters as applicable to the DB server, provide advice on tuning the DB instance parameters, provide recommendation for indexes, provide query tuning guidelines

10. Based on the specific requests, help project teams to optimize PostgreSQL configurations

11. Restoration of EDB Postgres Database using pg_restore and PITR as per requirement of usres and application

12. Linux (RHEL & OEL 6,7 and 8) and Windows server 2012,2016 and 2019

13. Logical backup using PG_Dump and PG_Dumpall and restoration using PG_Restore

14. Database Maintenance (VACUUM, VACUUM FULL, ANALYZE ,AUTOVACCUM, REINDEXING, VACUUMDB), Performance Benchmarking using PGBENCH
