Plumber – Full Time

Job Title: Plumber

Duration: 40 hours per week including benefits.

Duties

• Under direction, perform general plumbing work involved in the installation and maintenance of plumbing facilities and systems; work with various machines and hand tools.
• Work from sketches, plans and specifications in accordance with plumbing code or accepted trade policies.
• Take the lead and give assignments to helpers.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
• Install, repair, and maintain gas, water and waste disposal pipes in facilities.
• Troubleshoot malfunctions and make emergency and permanent repairs.
• Remove stoppages from piping and toilets, sinks and other facilities.
• Work with wrought iron, cast iron, butt welded, soil, asbestos composition, and copper pipes.
• Install and repair piping systems using flanged, screwed, bell and spigot compression, and soldered pipes.
• Familiar with reducing, pressure relief, surge check, float, gate, globe and other types of valves, unions, sleeves, bushings, reducers, and other fittings.
• Measure and fit piping and facilities.
• Interpret graphic symbols used on piping drawings.
• Prepare time and material estimates.
• Perform tests on work in progress and complete work.
• Maintain records.
• Learn and utilize electronic and manual recording and information systems used by the County.

Requirements

• Three (3) years of experience in plumbing work involving layout, construction, repair and maintenance tasks.
• Applicant must be at least 18 years of age.
• Valid driver’s license in New Jersey if vehicle operation is necessary.

• Ability to obtain, store, safeguard, distribute and use needed equipment, materials and supplies.
