Job summary

Bhakti Management Services is seeking a skilled plumber to install, repair and maintain campus water supply lines, drainage systems, taps, and sanitary fixtures across the university campus. The role requires hands-on maintenance, emergency response, and coordination with other maintenance staff.

The ideal candidate should have practical knowledge of water supply and drainage systems, be physically fit, and able to work in classrooms, hostels, laboratories, and offices as needed.

Qualifications

  • Candidates with relevant experience in plumbing installation, repair, and maintenance.
  • Experience working in large institutional facilities is advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Install, repair, and maintain water supply lines, drainage systems, taps, and sanitary fixtures across the campus.
  • Conduct routine inspection of plumbing systems to identify leakage or blockages.
  • Attend to emergencies to minimize disruption to classrooms, hostels, labs, offices, and washrooms.
  • Regularly inspect plumbing installations and report major defects to supervisor.
  • Maintain washrooms’ plumbing and ensure proper water supply, drainage, and flushing.
  • Coordinate with maintenance staff and contractors as needed.

Job description

Role & responsibilities
  • Plumbing Installation & Repair: Install, repair, and maintain water supply lines, drainage systems, pipelines, taps, valves, washbasins, toilets, urinals, sinks, and other plumbing fixtures across the campus.
  • Routine Maintenance: Conduct regular inspection of plumbing systems to identify leakage, blockage, pressure issues, damaged pipes, faulty fittings, and other plumbing-related problems.
  • Leakage & Blockage Management: Promptly attend to water leakages, clogged drains, overflowing toilets, damaged pipelines, and other plumbing emergencies to minimize disruption.
  • Water Supply Maintenance: Ensure proper functioning of the campus water supply system, including overhead tanks, underground water lines, pumps, valves, and associated plumbing infrastructure.
  • Sanitary Fixture Maintenance: Install, repair, and replace sanitary fittings such as faucets, flush systems, showers, taps, washbasins, toilets, and related accessories.
  • Pipeline Work: Carry out cutting, fitting, joining, replacement, and maintenance of different types of water and drainage pipes as required.
  • Preventive Maintenance: Perform scheduled preventive maintenance of plumbing systems and identify potential issues before they develop into major breakdowns.
  • Emergency Response: Attend to urgent plumbing complaints and breakdowns, particularly in classrooms, hostels, laboratories, offices, residential areas, washrooms, and other important campus facilities.
  • Inspection of Plumbing Systems: Regularly inspect plumbing installations throughout the campus and report major defects or repair requirements to the concerned supervisor.
  • Maintenance of Washrooms: Ensure proper functioning of washroom plumbing systems and promptly address issues related to water supply, drainage, flushing, leakage, and sanitary fittings.
  • Water Conservation: Identify and report unnecessary water wastage and leakage and support the institution in maintaining efficient water usage.
  • Tools & Equipment: Properly operate, maintain, and safely handle plumbing tools, equipment, and materials required for repair and maintenance work.
  • Material Management: Inform the concerned authority about the requirement of pipes, fittings, valves, sanitary items, tools, and other plumbing materials and ensure their appropriate use.
  • Coordination with Maintenance Team: Coordinate with electricians, civil maintenance staff, housekeeping personnel, contractors, and other technical staff whenever plumbing work requires combined support.
  • Safety Compliance: Follow appropriate safety procedures while working with water lines, drainage systems, tools, equipment, and plumbing installations.
  • Maintenance Records: Maintain basic records of plumbing complaints, repairs, replacements, preventive maintenance activities, and materials used, wherever required.
  • Campus Support: Provide plumbing support during university events, examinations, functions, admissions, hostel activities, and other institutional requirements.
  • Clean & Safe Work Practices: Ensure that work areas are kept clean and safe after completing repair or installation activities and dispose of waste materials appropriately.
  • Complaint Handling: Respond promptly to plumbing-related complaints received from faculty, staff, students, hostel residents, and other authorized personnel.
  • Other Duties: Perform any other plumbing, maintenance, and facility-related duties assigned by the supervisor or competent authority from time to time.
Preferred candidate profile
  • Candidates with relevant experience in plumbing installation, repair, and maintenance will be preferred.
  • Prior experience working in a University, College, School, Government Organization, Hospital, Residential Complex, Hotel, or other large institutional facility will be an added advantage.
  • Should have practical knowledge of water supply systems, drainage systems, pipelines, valves, taps, sanitary fittings, and plumbing fixtures.
  • Must be capable of identifying and resolving common plumbing issues such as leakages, blockages, low water pressure, damaged pipes, faulty taps, and drainage problems.
  • Should have basic knowledge of different types of pipes, fittings, joints, valves, and plumbing materials.
  • Candidates should be comfortable handling plumbing tools and equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Should have a basic understanding of preventive maintenance and troubleshooting of plumbing systems.
  • Candidates with experience in maintaining large-scale campus or building plumbing infrastructure will be preferred.
  • Should be physically fit and capable of performing hands-on maintenance work, including bending, lifting, climbing, and working in confined or difficult areas when required.
  • Must demonstrate punctuality, discipline, reliability, and a strong sense of responsibility.
  • Should be able to respond quickly to emergency plumbing breakdowns and urgent maintenance complaints.
  • Candidates should have good teamwork and coordination skills and be able to work effectively with other maintenance staff.
  • Basic communication skills in Hindi and/or Gujarati would be an advantage, particularly for coordinating with staff and campus residents.
  • Should follow all institutional safety rules, maintenance procedures, and workplace regulations.
  • Candidates with a service-oriented attitude and willingness to work according to institutional requirements will be preferred.
  • Experience in hostel, residential, commercial, or educational campus maintenance will be considered an added advantage.
