As part of our next phase of growth, NMK has commenced operations at a state-of-the-art new manufacturing facility at Bhiwandi, Thane ( Maharashtra). About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Plant Head to lead the team-building, scale-up and overall management of the Bhiwandi facility.

This is an overall plant-management and cross-functional leadership position—not a pure production role.

The Plant Head will work alongside our existing Production Manager and production team. While the Production Manager will continue to lead day-to-day production planning and execution, the Plant Head will integrate all plant functions, build and manage the wider organisation and establish the systems, infrastructure and culture required for sustainable growth.

The position will report to the Chief Operating Officer, with a dotted-line reporting relationship to the CEO & Managing Director.

Key ResponsibilitiesPlant Management and Scale-up
  • Lead the phased commissioning, operational stabilisation and scale-up of the manufacturing facility
  • Take overall responsibility for effective administration and coordination of plant operations
  • Ensure the timely availability of manpower, materials, machinery, utilities and infrastructure
  • Identify and resolve cross-functional bottlenecks affecting productivity, quality, cost or delivery
  • Monitor plant costs, capacity utilisation, inventory, wastage and overall operating efficiency
  • Establish disciplined plant-review systems and accurate management reporting
Hiring and Team Leadership
  • Develop the plant organisation structure and phased manpower plan
  • Work closely with HR to recruit departmental heads, staff, supervisors and other plant personnel
  • Participate actively in interviewing, selecting, onboarding and integrating new team members
  • Build a capable, disciplined and performance-oriented plant organisation
  • Establish clear responsibilities, KRAs, review mechanisms and accountability across functions
  • Develop departmental heads, supervisors and the next line of plant leadership
  • Promote employee engagement, skill development, workforce stability and a respectful workplace culture
Cross-functional Coordination
  • Coordinate Production, PPC, Quality, Maintenance, Stores, Warehouse, HR, EHS, IT/ERP and Dispatch
  • Support the Production Manager in achieving productivity, efficiency and delivery objectives
  • Ensure effective coordination between manufacturing requirements and export-dispatch commitments
  • Strengthen ERP discipline, data accuracy, inventory controls and process compliance
  • Coordinate with the independent Quality function and ensure that production or delivery pressures do not compromise quality controls
Environment, Health and Safety
  • Build and oversee a strong Environment, Health and Safety culture across the facility
  • Ensure that EHS requirements are incorporated into machine installation, commissioning and day-to-day operations
  • Ensure compliance with applicable factory, fire, electrical, occupational-health, environmental and workplace-safety requirements
  • Establish effective systems for risk assessment, machine safety, PPE, contractor safety and safe material handling
  • Ensure emergency preparedness, mock drills, employee safety training and incident-reporting systems
  • Review accidents, near misses and unsafe conditions, ensuring root-cause analysis and timely corrective action
  • Ensure that production and delivery pressures never compromise employee safety or statutory compliance
Operational Excellence
  • Lead TQM, Kaizen, 5S, Lean manufacturing and other operational-excellence initiatives
  • Work with internal teams and external consultants to convert improvement recommendations into measurable outcomes
  • Standardise successful improvements and ensure they are sustained
  • Build a culture of continuous improvement, data-based decision-making and shop-floor discipline
Candidate Profile
  • Minimum 15 years of manufacturing experience, including substantial experience in senior plant or operations leadership
  • Experience in home textiles, bed linen, made-ups, garments or another labour-intensive export-manufacturing environment is strongly preferred
  • Proven experience in setting up, expanding, commissioning or scaling a manufacturing facility
  • Demonstrated ability to recruit, build, manage and retain large multidisciplinary teams
  • Strong people leadership with the ability to strengthen and support established teams collaboratively
  • Sound understanding of EHS, factory compliance, maintenance, ERP, inventory management and operational excellence
  • Practical exposure to TQM, Kaizen, Lean manufacturing and structured problem-solving
  • High integrity, sound judgement and a hands-on, data-driven leadership style
Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Textile Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Production Engineering or a related discipline.

An MBA or postgraduate qualification in Operations Management will be an advantage.

Location Requirement

This is a full-time, on-site position at Bhiwandi, Maharashtra. Candidates should be based in or willing to relocate within reasonable commuting distance of the facility.

NMK offers an experienced manufacturing professional the opportunity to join a proven export organisation and play a defining role in building its next phase of growth.
