The role demands 15 years in manufacturing with at least 5 in a leadership role in construction, a B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical/Chemical/Production (MBA preferred), and hands-on SAP experience to drive TPM, Lean/Six Sigma and cost optimization.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize and oversee daily plant operations to run safely, efficiently and profitably.
• Ensure timely production per sales and dispatch schedules; monitor KPIs (OEE, yield, capacity).
• Manage raw material planning and inventory with procurement/SCM; drive cost optimization.
• Lead quality, safety, environment and regulatory compliance; implement TPM/Lean/Six Sigma.

Department: Manufacturing / Operations

Reports To: Head Operations

Experience: 15 years in manufacturing; minimum 5 years in a leadership role within construction

chemicals, tile adhesives, or similar industry

Qualification: B.E./B.Tech – Mechanical / Chemical / Production; MBA preferred

Role Objective

To lead and manage end-to-end operations of the tile adhesive plant in Durgapur ensuring productivity, quality, safety, and compliance. The Plant Head will be responsible for delivering business targets through efficient plant operations, cost optimization, and people leadership.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, and oversee daily operations to ensure the plant runs efficiently, safely, and profitably.
• Ensure timely production as per sales and dispatch requirements.
• Monitor key KPIs (OEE, yield, capacity utilization) and drive continuous improvement.
• Manage raw material planning and inventory in coordination with procurement and SCM.

2. Quality & Compliance

• Ensure product quality as per defined standards and customer specifications.
• Drive quality assurance and quality control processes in alignment with ISO standards and internal SOPs.
• Ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements, including pollution control and safety norms.

3. Maintenance & Asset Management

• Ensure preventive and predictive maintenance schedules are followed.
• Optimize equipment uptime and reduce breakdowns.
• Manage plant infrastructure and ensure all utilities (power, water, etc.) function without disruption.

4. Cost Optimization & Budgeting

• Control operational costs through efficient resource utilization and waste reduction.
• Prepare and manage the plant’s operating budget and cost forecasts.
• Identify areas for cost improvement across energy, manpower, materials, etc.

5. Health, Safety & Environment (HSE)

• Implement and enforce safety practices and zero-accident culture.
• Conduct regular safety drills, audits, and training programs.
• Ensure plant adheres to all EHS norms.

6. People Management

• Lead a team of production, maintenance, QA, and support staff.
• Drive employee engagement, training, and development.
• Foster a performance-driven culture within the plant.

7. Cross-functional Coordination

• Work closely with SCM, R&D, Sales, and Finance teams to ensure alignment on production planning, demand forecasting, and cost controls.
• Act as the key liaison between the plant and corporate leadership.
• Strong leadership and team management skills
• Technical expertise in tile adhesive or construction chemical manufacturing
• Knowledge of TPM, Lean Manufacturing, or Six Sigma practices
• Effective communication and stakeholder management
• Problem-solving and decision-making abilities
• Hands-on experience with SAP.

Preferred Background

• Prior experience in setting up or scaling a tile adhesive / dry mix / construction chemical plant will be a strong advantage
• Local language (Bengali) proficiency is preferred
