Job summary

THERMAX is seeking a piping engineer to lead design for power and industrial projects. You will develop layouts, review ASME/IBR compliance, and perform stress checks using Caesar II, while coordinating with process, mechanical and civil teams.

A Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering and 5–10 years of piping experience are required; strong communication and leadership skills are essential. Experience with 3D tools (PDMS/SP3D/AutoCAD Plant 3D) is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
• 5–10 years of experience in piping engineering and design in power, energy, or industrial sectors.
• Proficiency in piping codes (ASME B31.1) and IBR is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and review piping specifications per ASME and IBR.
• Perform flexibility analysis for boiler and auxiliary piping.
• Resolve complex piping design issues on projects.
• Design piping supports and prepare BOMs/MTOs.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure project execution.

Job description

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare and review piping specifications including WALL thickness calculations, piping class, and material specifications in accordance with ASME and IBR codes.
• Perform flexibility analysis for Boiler integral piping, Soot blower piping ,SH/RH spray, Aux.steam piping and etc.
• Resolve complex piping design and engineering issues on projects.
• Design and specify piping supports, create piping support summaries, and ensure proper placement in coordination with structural teams.
• Prepare accurate Material Take-Offs (MTOs) and Bills of Materials (BOMs) for Piping supports procurement and planning.
• Prepare stress Isometric drawing
• Ensure compliance with international and national codes and standards such as ASME B31.1 and IBR.
• Review vendor drawings and technical documentation related to piping supports.
• Prepare spring hanger specifications
• Prepare piping support specifications.
• Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including process, mechanical, civil, and project management to ensure seamless project execution.
• Ensure adherence to quality and safety standards.
• Participate in design reviews, HAZOPs, and client meetings as needed.

Key Skills & Competencies:

• Expertise in piping engineering, layout development, and piping design software.
• In-depth knowledge of ASME, IBR, and relevant piping codes and standards.
• Proficient in Caesar II for stress analysis.
• Strong problem-solving skills in resolving piping design and interface issues.
• Working knowledge of 3D design tools (e.g., PDMS, SP3D,AutoCAD Plant 3D) is an added advantage.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills to manage a multidisciplinary team.
• Ability to manage project schedules and deliverables efficiently under tight deadlines.
