Job summary

Sampurnadiagnostics is seeking a laboratory technician to collect samples (blood, urine, stool) across pathology disciplines at collection centers. You will assess patients beforehand, prepare puncture sites, label specimens, and adhere to BMW protocols while traveling within Indore as needed.

The role requires previous medical lab experience, teamwork, confidentiality, and initiative. Training will be provided for tasks and safety compliance.

Qualifications

  • Experience in a medical laboratory.
  • Theoretical and practical knowledge of all laboratory departments.
  • Willingness to travel to collection centers as required.

Responsibilities

  • Collect blood, urine, stool, and other pathology-related samples as per protocol.
  • Assess the patient before sample collection and take a detailed medical history.
  • Properly prepare the puncture site and perform accurate blood collection.
  • Ensure correct labeling of all specimens.
  • Follow BMW (Biomedical Waste) protocols strictly.
  • Conduct home visits for sample collection at patient locations as instructed by the HOD/Coordinator.
  • Be ready to travel within Indore as per the assigned area by the HOD/Coordinator.
  • Work on a flexible schedule as communicated by the HOD/Coordinator.
  • Maintain patient and company confidentiality at all times.
  • Receive and manage samples for all disciplines.
  • Assign laboratory numbers and carry out clerical and technical tasks in accordance with sample handling procedures.
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
  • Participate in departmental audits and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Train and competency assess all grades of staff in sample reception and related tasks.
  • Comply with health and safety legislation and be aware of employee responsibilities.

Job description

  • Understand the day-to-day organization of the laboratory and the roles of team members as they relate to your work.
  • Attend laboratory meetings and contribute to discussions as required.
  • Undertake assigned tasks carefully, efficiently, and in compliance with the quality management system.
  • Communicate in a friendly, helpful, and professional manner with staff, clients, and customers as a representative of the laboratory and the company.
  • Adhere to the rules and codes of the laboratory, especially concerning health, safety, and fire procedures.
  • Behave in a professional manner and cooperate with all team members at all times.
  • Only undertake work you are trained and confident to perform; training will be provided as necessary.
  • Maintain high standards of work within the laboratory.
  • Carry out duties at collection centers or branches as instructed by the HOD/Coordinator.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the HOD/Laboratory Manager.
  • Participate in the annual management review.

Qualifications Required:

  • DMLT/CMLT/BMLT

Experience:

  • Previous experience in a medical laboratory.
  • Theoretical and practical knowledge of all laboratory departments.
