Job Purpose

To supervise mining operations of Bhadanpur mines and assist in staffing, to achieve of targeted production and desired quality as per plant requirement. Coordinate with contractors for deployment of their machinery to achieve production. Ensure safety of man & machinery and develop the mine as per mining plan.

Job Context: - UltraTech Cement Ltd. is the largest manufacturer of grey cement, Ready Mix Concrete (RMC) and white cement in India. UltraTech has 23 integrated manufacturing units, 29 grinding units, one Clinkerisation unit and 8 Bulk Packaging Terminals.

Maihar Cement Works is a modern cement plant with a high level of automation, computer-aided data acquisition & sophisticated control system, which ensures quality at every stage of production.

The Unit is strategically located at Sarlanagar at a distance of about 8 Kms from the town of Maihar on Maihar-Dhanwahi Road in Satna District of Madhya Pradesh. About 45 Kms South-East of Satna, a hub of Cement Industries in India. Maihar is situated at the Main Railway line of Howrah-Mumbai. It is one of the famous dots in the mythological map of India and also regarded as the abode of Goddess Sharda.

The Unit has a clinker production capacity of 3.0 MTPA, Cement Production capacity of 4.2 MTPA & manufactures OPC 43, OPC 53 & PPC grade of cement with Environment clearance for cement production capacity enhancement to 6.0 MTPA. Unit also has a solar power plant of installed capacity 12.5 MW DC / 8.75 MW AC and is equipped with the latest technology & equipment’s. The Normal Power requirement of the Unit is about 47.5 MW which is being met through our two nos. TPP of a total capacity of 2 x 15.7 MW.

We have also a contract demand of 22 MVA with MPPKVVCL.

There are four townships (Staff Colony, Bank Colony, Juda Nala Colony and Mines Colony) adjacent to plant with facilities like 30 room guesthouse, sports & recreation club with swimming pool, temple, 30 bedded Hospital, garden, playground, children park, etc. Unit also facilitate CBSE Affiliated School within colony premises and College about 500 mtr from Staff Colony

The focus area for Job holder is to ensure smooth Mines operations to achieve production and quality targets through effective operation and maintenance activities. The position is also responsible for reducing stores and spares cost, repair and maintenance cost through zero based maintenance budgeting, co-ordination with other technical, commercial, HR and logistic sections for day to day operation and providing timely and accurate information to Management for taking strategic decisions and effective planning of Mines operations. Ensuring safe working environment in the work place and 100% compliance to all statutory requirements is also key requirements for this position.

Job Context & Major Challenges:

Statutory compliance : Challenge of complying Safety & Environmental requirements amidst recent/frequent changes in regulatory/statutory norms.

Quality Management : Ensure desired quality of Limestone for required Plant Quantity despite challenge of balancing multpile critical parameters i.e. SO3,CL,MgO and LSF by planning & ensuring implementation of judicious blending with Clay.

Local constraints – Managing local issues to ensure un-interuppted production from mining pits & capture enchroched mining area from locals required for mining.

KRA1 Production & Development

1. Supervision of mining activities as per statute
2. Excute plan by deploying sufficient men & machinery.
3. Ensure Optimum utilization of all HEMM and transportation equipments to maintain efficiency.
4. Ensure maintenance of Haul roads, In pit floor area for smooth operation.
5. Responsible for supervising activities of Mine Foreman , mining mates, WB employees & contractor’s workmen.
6. Preparation of area for blasting and dozing.
7. Proficiency in SAP (PP Module), TM-1, and PESO.

KRA2 Quality & Planning

1. Execute quality plan in consultation with Geologist.
2. Feed material as per blend plan with clay to meet plant requirements.
3. Ensure placement of dozers and wheel Loader as per Quality planning.
4. Implement corrective action on deviation w.r.t. quality, quantity and efficiency.

KRA3 Statutory Compliance

1. Ensure actions as per conditions of
2. HEMM permission
3. Safety Management Plan
4. EC Conditions
5. Preparation & submission of all statutory returns without any deviations such as Monthly, Quarterly & Annual including contractor’s returns.
6. Coordinate & comply for IME / PME of all workmen

KRA4 Focus on SHE (Safety, Health & Environment) along with Sustainability initiatives - Ensuring 100% compliance of all safety standards and all applicable recommendations related to their concerned area.

• Educating team about I know my job, I know the hazards associated with my job and I applied control measures & I elevate to my senior among manpower deployed in sections/department manpower including peer, WB & CL manpower
• Timely conducting scheduled SO round and reporting of accidents, incidents and near misses on occurrences in the area of concern in system.
• To conduct daily Tool Box Talk as schedule and before start the job any critical job along with SWP
• Active participation in safety training, safety sub committees, standard champions meeting and any safety event
• Ensure good housekeeping, limited use of power, no leakage of water, oil, air etc and reporting concerned if any abnormalities for corrective action
• Adhering of all safety precautions on the site and off the site
• Replicating good practice for saving environment for long run sustainability and creating awareness among manpower to save guard natural resources.

KRA5 Ensuring IMS & WCM Compliances

• 100% Adhere ABOEF related activity like Kaizen, OPL, Suggestion, Good to find as per defined target.
• Assigning & Implementation of all approved suggestions
• BCE & 5S score of concern GRT's.
• Developing of New Model area and sustaining current model area.
• Ensure to conduct quarter audit by cross function GRT team
• Ensuring documentation and conformity to IMS & ISO standards.
• Encouraging teams to actively paticipate in IMS and WCM activities.
