Job summary

UltraTech Cement is seeking an experienced mechanical project professional to oversee the execution and commissioning of major material handling and processing equipment. You will review drawings, coordinate erection activities, and ensure safe, reliable operation aligned with project requirements.

The role emphasizes planning shutdowns, coordinating with contractors and engineers, and maintaining rigorous safety and documentation standards throughout commissioning and handover.

Responsibilities

• Review mechanical drawings, layouts, technical specifications, and vendor documents for project execution.
• Supervise erection, fabrication, alignment, testing, and commissioning of crushers, conveyors, silos, packing plants, material handling systems, and utility equipment.
• Ensure reliable operation and smooth commissioning of mechanical equipment in line with project requirements.
• Plan and monitor shutdown activities, resource deployment, manpower utilization, and equipment availability.
• Prepare and review Job Safety Analysis (JSA), Risk Assessments, Method Statements, and Lifting Plans for critical activities.
• Select suitable cranes and lifting equipment, and ensure safe execution of heavy lifting operations.
• Coordinate closely with fabrication contractors, erection agencies, service engineers, OEM representatives, and inspection agencies.
• Monitor contractor performance, work quality, productivity, and adherence to project schedules and cost targets.
• Ensure compliance with permit-to-work systems, safety standards, PPE requirements, and project safety procedures.
• Participate in safety inspections, toolbox talks, incident investigations, and closure of safety observations.
• Support trial runs, performance testing, troubleshooting, mechanical completion, and project handover activities.
• Maintain project progress reports, inspection records, measurement sheets, and commissioning documentation.
• Should have good communication and interpersonal skills.
