Job summary

Mphasis in Pune, India, is seeking an experienced Performance Engineer to own and execute end-to-end PE lifecycle including workload modelling, scripting, execution, monitoring, tuning, and reporting. Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Own and execute PE lifecycle from requirements to RCA and reporting.
• Set up the PE framework: standards, processes, dashboards, SLAs/SLOs, best practices.
• Design and run load, stress, endurance, scalability, and volume tests for Issuer Services apps and APIs.
• Develop, maintain, optimize performance test scripts with RPT/LoadRunner/JMeter.
• Analyze performance across UI, API, database, infra, and network layers.
• Diagnose bottlenecks using Dynatrace and Splunk; provide actionable tuning guidance.
• Create detailed performance reports and present findings to stakeholders.
• Collaborate with Dev, SRE, Product and Architecture to ensure scalability and stability.

Experience Required

• Minimum 10 years of experience in Performance Engineering.

Key Responsibilities

• Own and execute the end-to-end Performance Engineering lifecyclerequirements analysis, workload modelling, scripting, execution, monitoring, tuning, and reporting.
• Set up the Performance Engineering (PE) framework from scratch, including standards, processes, dashboards, SLAs/SLOs, and best practices.
• Design and execute load, stress, endurance, scalability, and volume tests for Issuer Services applications and APIs.
• Develop, maintain, and optimize performance test scripts using any one industry-standard performance testing tool, such as IBM Rational Performance Tester (RPT) (Preferable), LoadRunner, or Apache JMeter.
• Analyse performance behaviour across UI, API, database, infrastructure, and network layers.
• Diagnose bottlenecks using Dynatrace (APM, service flow, hotspots, code-level insights) and Splunk (log analytics, correlation, dashboards).
• Provide detailed RCA, tuning recommendations, and optimization guidance to developers, architects, DBAs, and infrastructure teams.
• Create clear performance reports covering metrics, observations, bottlenecks, and actionable recommendations.
• Present results, trends, and RCA findings to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Collaborate with Dev, SRE, Product, and Architecture teams to ensure performance, scalability, and stability of Issuer Services platforms.

Required Skills

• Strong hands-on experience with any one of the following performance testing tools (mandatory): IBM Rational Performance Tester (RPT) (Preferable), LoadRunner, Apache JMeter.
• Proven capability to establish and run Performance Engineering cycles independently.
• Solid understanding of API performance & microservices, distributed systems & high-throughput transaction platforms.
• Strong fundamentals in SQL basics & database performance.
• Experience with Linux OS performance metrics and system-level analysis.
• Ability to interpret APM/log insights and translate them into actionable tuning recommendations.

Preferred / Good to Have

• Experience in Payments / Issuer Services domain.
• Familiarity with Kafka, Redis, PostgreSQL, Apigee performance testing.
• Exposure to cloud environments (AWS/Azure).
• Experience integrating performance tests into CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitHub Actions).
