Job summary

Digital.ai Chennai seeks a Performance Test Engineer to analyze, design, and execute performance tests for Digital.ai products, ensuring scalable, reliable deployments. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize performance, develop dashboards, and leverage AI-driven approaches to testing and reporting.

The role requires strong experience in end-to-end performance engineering, proficiency with testing tools, cloud platforms, and CI/CD, with a focus on delivering high-quality

Qualifications

• Expert in performance engineering techniques and processes.
• End-to-end performance testing: requirements, workload modeling, scripting, analysis.
• Proficient with server-side and client-side testing tools (e.g., JMeter/Locust/Gatling; HTTP Watch; Fiddler; Lighthouse).
• CI/CD integration for performance engineering.
• Tuning of Web and Application Servers (Windows/Linux).
• Strong protocols knowledge: HTML/HTTP, TCP/IP, REST.
• Database knowledge (PostgreSQL/MySQL/MongoDB/Oracle) with SQL tuning.
• Java profiling tools (JProfiler/Dynatrace/YourKit).
• Experience with APM tools (New Relic, AppDynamics).
• Metrics monitoring with Grafana/InfluxDB/Prometheus/ELK.
• Heap and thread dump analysis (JMAP, TDA).
• RUM and log analysis tools (Splunk, Logstash).
• Experience with Java and .NET performance engineering.
• Cloud experience (AWS/Azure/GCP).
• DevOps and CI/CD culture exposure.

Responsibilities

• Analyze customer usage patterns to identify bottlenecks in installation/configuration/application.
• Work with cross-functional teams to analyze/perf bottlenecks.
• Explore scalability options for various customer sizes.
• Collaborate with customers on performance issues (onsite/offsite).
• Maintain and enhance performance dashboards and reporting using JavaScript and Python.
• Leverage Generative AI/Agentic AI for test design, workload generation, RCA automation, data analysis, dashboards, reporting.
• Create baselines, benchmarks, and best practices for the team.

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Team

The Performance Engineering Team consists of both Performance Test Engineers and Application Performance Engineers who are responsible for ensuring and maximizing the performance of Digital.ai products. Some of the team's responsibilities include:

• Establishing performance guidelines and benchmarks for the application
• Continuously asserting the performance and scalability of the application against established benchmarks
• Working closely with the development team, participating in design discussions and making sure performance guidelines are followed
• Identifying performance issues early in the release cycle and coming up with solutions/suggestions as well
• Running different types of performance tests to measure both the application and hardware deployment capacity and coming up with scalable deployment solutions

Responsibilities

• Analyze customer usage patterns and identify potential bottlenecks in the installation, configuration, or in the application itself
• Working with the cross-functional team, analyze/profile the application for performance and scalability bottlenecks
• Explore and identify scalability options for various sized customers
• Work with customers on their performance and scalability issues (onsite/offsite)
• Maintain, develop and enhance performance engineering dashboards and reporting solutions using JavaScript and Python to provide real-time visibility into performance trends, KPIs, SLAs, and test execution results
• Evaluate and leverage Generative AI and Agentic AI capabilities to improve performance engineering processes, including test design, workload generation, RCA automation, data analysis, dashboard insights, and reporting automation
• Contribute to creating baselines, benchmarks, and best practices for the performance engineering team. Provide not only test results but also drill down into logs and code to give developers more detail

Required Skills

Desired profile / skill set:

• Expert in performance engineering techniques and processes
• Expert in carrying out E2E performance testing, from identifying the requirements, building workload models, scenarios, scripting, results analysis, reporting, and presentation
• Expertise in server-side and client-side performance testing tools and frameworks, preferably JMeter/Locust/Gatling, and experience in HTTP Watch, Fiddler, Chrome DevTools Lighthouse, PageSpeed Insights, WebPageTest, etc.
• Experience in implementing continuous integration and continuous deployment methodology for performance engineering
• Performance tuning experience with Web and Application Servers in Windows and Linux environments
• Strong command of protocols: HTML/HTTP, TCP/IP, COM/DCOM, SOAP, REST
• Database (PostgreSQL/MySQL/MongoDB/Oracle) knowledge is required, including SQL tuning
• Proficient in any Java profiling tools (JProfiler, Dynatrace, YourKit)
• Experience in using any APM tools is preferred (New Relic, AppDynamics, etc.)
• Experience with metrics monitoring such as Grafana, InfluxDB, Prometheus, ELK
• Expertise in heap and thread dump analysis is required (JMAP, TDA)
• Real user monitoring and log analysis tools (Splunk, Logstash)
• Experience with Java and .NET framework performance engineering is desirable
• Experience in cloud computing, preferably AWS/Azure/GCP
• Experience in DevOps and CI/CD culture
• Exposure to Docker, Kubernetes and container management
• Experience in performance tuning and recommendations
• Good verbal and written communication skills
• Self-motivated, independent, detail oriented and a team player
