Job summary

Charles Schwab India in Hyderabad is seeking an experienced Performance Engineer to design and run load, stress, and scalability tests across on-prem and cloud components. You will build test scripts with JMeter/LoadRunner and analyze bottlenecks using AppD, Splunk, and other monitoring tools.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to embed performance considerations into the SDLC and drive CI/CD pipelines in a PCF-enabled environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field.
• 7+ years in IT or software engineering, preferably performance engineering.
• Hands-on experience with performance testing tools (JMeter, LoadRunner).
• Experience with monitoring/diagnostic tools (AppD, Splunk, Datadog, OEM).
• Strong programming skills (Java, Python, or C#) with automation scripting (Bash/PowerShell).
• Experience with PCF and cloud/CI/CD environments.
• Understanding of databases and performance tuning (Oracle/SQL Server).
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively, with strong communication.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, script, and execute load, stress, endurance, and scalability tests using tools such as JMeter and LoadRunner.
• Build and maintain performance test scripts for both legacy distributed systems and microservices running on Pivotal Cloud Foundry (PCF).
• Validate performance in hybrid architectures involving on prem systems, messaging layers, APIs, and cloud deployed services.
• Use APM and monitoring tools (AppD, Splunk) to isolate bottlenecks in on prem systems, PCF hosted services, and integration points.
• Conduct deep dive diagnostics across the stack: application code, JVM/CLR, database calls, queues, caches, and network paths.
• Partner with senior engineers and architects when legacy constraints require creative performance tuning solutions.
• Work cross functionally with development, QA, SRE, and architecture teams to ensure performance considerations are built into the SDLC.
• Enhance performance testing automation, integrating scenarios into CI/CD pipelines across both on prem and PCF continuous delivery workflows.
• Deliver clear, actionable performance reports illustrating system behavior across legacy and cloud environment.

What you have

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Minimum of 7 years of IT or software engineering experience, preferably with dedicated performance engineering experience.
• Hands‑on experience with performance testing tools, including JMeter and LoadRunner.
• Experience using monitoring and diagnostic tools such as AppD, Splunk, Datadog, OEM, or similar platforms.
• Working knowledge of database concepts and performance tuning, including Oracle or SQL Server.
• Strong programming skills in Java, Python, or C#, with shell scripting experience in Bash or PowerShell for automation.
• Experience supporting legacy on‑prem distributed systems, including Linux and Windows servers, and troubleshooting performance across multi‑tier architectures.
• Practical experience deploying, testing, or tuning applications on Pivotal Cloud Foundry (PCF).
• Strong understanding of system architecture, cloud environments, and CI/CD practices.
• Strong analytical and communication skills, with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
• Ability to influence and establish a strong culture around performance testing.

Preferred Qualifications

• Hands on experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps tools such as GitHub Actions or Jenkins.
• Foundational knowledge of internet protocols and technologies, including HTTP, TCP/IP, DNS, and FTP.
• Experience with capacity analysis for servers, networks, or related infrastructure.
