Job summary

Apex Group, established in Bermuda in 2003 and now a leading fund admin and middle office solutions provider, is seeking a Payroll Specialist in Pune to deliver accurate payroll operations across the ANZ/APAC region.

You will oversee end-to-end payroll processing with external vendors, ensure compliance with payroll legislation across ANZ/APAC, support monthly processes, and partner with Finance and HR to maintain data integrity and timely payments.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years' proven experience in payroll administration or operations.
  • Experience in a multinational environment preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of ANZ/APAC payroll legislation and taxation.
  • Advanced Excel and data handling skills.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee end-to-end payroll processing with external vendors, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Ensure compliance with payroll legislation, including taxation and social security.
  • Support monthly payroll activities and timely processing.
  • Serve as primary point of contact for employee payroll queries across the region.
  • Collaborate with Finance and Group Treasury for payroll accounting and funding.
  • Manage payroll data throughout the employee lifecycle ensuring data integrity.
  • Support payroll-related projects, audits, transitions and salary reviews by tax authorities.
  • Coordinate monthly, quarterly, and annual statutory filings accurately and on time.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance payroll processes, controls and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

The Payroll Specialist will be responsible for the efficient and accurate delivery of payroll operations across the ANZ/APAC region, including but not limited to the following:

  • Oversee and coordinate end-to-end payroll processing with external payroll vendors, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and adherence to company policies and regional payroll practices.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable payroll legislation, including taxation, social security, pension, and other statutory requirements across ANZ/APAC countries.
  • Support the preparation, validation, and processing of monthly payroll activities, ensuring all payroll inputs are reviewed and processed accurately and within agreed timelines.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for employee payroll-related queries, providing professional and timely support to employees across the region.
  • Liaise closely with Finance and Group Treasury teams to ensure accurate payroll accounting, salary funding, and timely payroll payments.
  • Partner with HR and Finance teams to manage payroll data throughout the employee lifecycle, ensuring data integrity from input through to reporting and payroll output.
  • Support payroll-related projects and ad hoc initiatives, including internal and external audits, process improvements, payroll transitions, and salary reviews by tax authorities.
  • Coordinate and monitor monthly, quarterly, and annual statutory filings, ensuring all submissions and payments are completed accurately and on time.
  • Assist in identifying opportunities to enhance payroll processes, controls, compliance, and operational efficiency.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Degree in Business Studies, Human Resources, Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 3 years' proven experience in payroll administration or payroll operations, preferably within a multinational environment.
  • Strong knowledge of payroll legislation, employment regulations, taxation, and statutory compliance requirements across ANZ/APAC countries.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, with the ability to engage effectively with employees, vendors, and stakeholders at all levels.
  • Diploma in Human Resources, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field would be advantageous.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, work under pressure, and meet strict deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive employee information with discretion.
  • Experience working with payroll systems and third-party payroll providers is highly desirable.
