Job summary

Unity is seeking a detail‑oriented Payroll Specialist to join the EMEA payroll team from our Bengaluru office. You will manage end‑to‑end payroll for multiple countries, ensure compliance, and collaborate with vendors and in‑country providers.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, HR, Business Administration, or related field.
  • 5–7 years hands‑on payroll experience across multiple EMEA countries (France, Spain, Belgium, Lithuania, etc.).
  • Strong understanding of EMEA payroll legislation, taxation, social security and statutory requirements.
  • Experience with global payroll platforms such as Workday, CloudPay, ADP and in‑country providers.
  • Payroll accounting and reconciliation experience (journals, accruals, balance sheet).
  • Advanced Excel skills; strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities; good communication.
  • Exposure to automation, data analytics, AI-enabled tools, or process optimization in payroll.

Responsibilities

  • Manage end-to-end payroll processing for assigned EMEA countries, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Partner with payroll vendors and in-country providers to validate results and resolve discrepancies.
  • Review inputs ( hires, terminations, changes, bonuses, benefits, absences) and perform audits.
  • Prepare and review payroll reports, year‑end activities, and payroll accounting entries.
  • Collaborate with HR, People Operations, Finance, Tax, Mobility and Benefits to support month/quarter/year-end closes and resolve queries.

Job description

The opportunity

We are looking for a detail-oriented and proactive Payroll Specialist to join our EMEA Payroll team. In this role, you will support the accurate and timely processing of payroll across multiple EMEA countries while ensuring compliance with local regulations, internal controls, and company policies. The ideal candidate will have hands‑on experience managing payroll operations across countries such as France, Spain, Belgium, Lithuania, and other EMEA jurisdictions. You’ll bring strong analytical and payroll accounting skills, along with experience working with global payroll systems and providers. This is a hybrid role based in our Bangalore office. The general working hours for this role are 2:00 PM–11:00 PM IST, Monday through Friday.

What you’ll be doing
  • Manage end-to-end payroll processing for assigned EMEA countries, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with local statutory requirements.
  • Partner with payroll vendors and in-country providers to validate payroll results, resolve discrepancies, and ensure seamless monthly processing.
  • Review payroll inputs, including new hires, terminations, compensation changes, bonuses, benefits, equity transactions, and absences, and perform detailed audits and reconciliations.
  • Prepare and review payroll reports, statutory filings, year-end activities, and payroll accounting activities, including journals, accruals, balance sheet reconciliations, and variance analysis.
  • Partner with HR, People Operations, Finance, Accounting, Tax, Mobility, and Benefits teams to resolve complex payroll queries and support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities.
  • Ensure payroll compliance and governance while identifying opportunities to improve processes, controls, automation, and employee experience, and supporting audits, system implementations, acquisitions, and other payroll-related projects.
What we’re looking for
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 5–7 years of hands‑on payroll experience supporting multiple EMEA countries, including experience with jurisdictions such as France, Spain, Belgium, Lithuania, and other EMEA countries.
  • Strong understanding of EMEA payroll legislation, taxation, social security, statutory requirements, and employment‑related payroll practices.
  • Experience working with global payroll platforms such as Workday, CloudPay, ADP, and in‑country payroll providers.
  • Strong payroll accounting and reconciliation experience, including payroll journals, accruals, balance sheet reconciliations, financial reporting, and large‑volume payroll data analysis.
  • Advanced Excel skills, strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities, excellent communication and organizational skills, and the flexibility to work UK business hours.
  • You might also have Experience supporting payroll operations within a multinational or global organization.
  • Exposure to payroll transitions, acquisitions, entity integrations, or global payroll transformation projects.
  • Knowledge of SOX controls and payroll compliance frameworks.
  • Experience working with HRIS and payroll integrations.
  • Exposure to automation, data analytics, AI‑enabled tools, or process optimization technologies to improve payroll efficiency and employee experience.
  • Professional payroll certification or accounting qualification is a plus.
Base Salary Range

₹1,110,600 – ₹1,665,800 INR gross. This range reflects the anticipated base salary for this position. Beyond base salary, this role may be eligible for equity awards and participation in our company incentive plans (such as annual discretionary bonuses or sales commissions). The final offer amount will depend on several factors, including geographic location and the candidate’s relevant experience, professional background, and skill set.
