Detailed Job Description

As a Packet Core Engineer supporting mobile packet core networks in Noida via Nokia, you will take full operational, tactical, and technical ownership of core network element management, performance optimization, and incident resolution. Your day-to-day responsibilities include monitoring and maintaining packet core network elements (MME, SGW, PGW, AMF, SMF, UPF, NRF, SGSN, GGSN, DNS), performing configuration, integration, and troubleshooting activities, and ensuring high availability and reliability of core services. You will handle network incidents, execute root cause analysis (RCA), and support scheduled network upgrades, software updates, and major architectural migrations. Furthermore, you will analyze data call flows for 4G and 5G, optimize network performance, and coordinate with cross-functional technical teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor, maintain, and manage Packet Core network elements (MME, SGW, PGW, AMF, SMF, UPF, NRF, SGSN, GGSN, DNS) for 4G and 5G services.
• Perform routine configuration, system integration, software upgrades, and troubleshooting activities on core nodes.
• Ensure high availability, resilience, and reliability of core network services across production environments.
• Handle network incidents, triage alarms, and perform rigorous Root Cause Analysis (RCA) to prevent recurrence.
• Support major network upgrades, core migrations, expansion projects, and vendor software patch updates.
• Analyze end-to-end data call flows for 4G LTE (EPC) and 5G standalone (SA) and non-standalone (NSA) architectures.
• Conduct network performance monitoring, capacity planning, and radio/core traffic optimization.
• Utilize advanced diagnostic tools (Wireshark, TCP dump, Linux OSS monitoring tools) for protocol inspection and fault isolation.

Required Qualifications & Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering, Telecommunications, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline.
• Minimum of 4 to 6 years of professional hands‑on experience in Packet Core engineering, deployment, integration, NPO, or testing.
• Strong expertise in Core Network Technologies: LTE/EPC Architecture, 5G Core Architecture, GSM, UMTS, LTE, 5G Technologies, and VoLTE Fundamentals.
• Deep knowledge of signaling protocols: GTP‑C, GTP‑U, Diameter, SCTP, SIP, HTTP/2, DNS, TCP/IP, and DHCP.
• Proven proficiency in analyzing data call flows for 4G and 5G networks and implementing performance optimizations.
• Practical hands‑on experience with diagnostic tools: Wireshark, Linux command line, OSS monitoring tools, and TCP dump.
• Preferred vendor experience across major telecom equipment manufacturers: Ericsson, Huawei, Nokia, ZTE, or Cisco.
• Mandatory legal eligibility to work in India with local residency and availability for on‑site operations in Noida.

Nice-to-Have Skills

• Professional vendor certifications from Nokia, Ericsson, or Cisco in Packet Core and 5G architecture.
• Experience with cloud-native core deployments (CNF/NFV), Kubernetes, and OpenStack container platforms.
• Familiarity with CI/CD automation pipelines and Python scripting for network management.
• Prior working experience with tier‑1 mobile network operators (MNOs) across India or global markets.
