Job summary

3M in India is seeking a packaging professional to design, create and maintain specifications for consumer and healthcare packaging materials across films, paperboard, rigid plastics, and transit packaging. You will collaborate with Marketing, R&D, Product Stewardship, Manufacturing, QA, Procurement and Logistics to develop products from design to mass production.

The role requires a postgraduate degree in Packaging, strong English communication, and at least four years of experience in consumer

• Experience in consumer packaging design and development – 4 years or more.
• Knowledge of India packaging-related regulations and experience of working in this area.

Responsibilities

• Design, create and maintain specifications for consumer and healthcare packaging materials (film, paperboard, rigid plastic, and transport packaging).
• Collaborate with Marketing, R&D, Product Stewardship, Manufacturing, QA, Procurement and Logistics and external partners to develop products from design to mass production.
• Develop new packaging structures, especially switching to environmentally friendly materials and propose their introduction in other countries.
• Meet India packaging material regulations and promote recyclability, recycled content, and reusable packaging.
• Support Product Stewardship with packaging material data for EPR reporting.
• Improve quality, functionality and efficiency of packaging materials based on internal and external requests.
• Assist marketing with packaging material die-lines and approve artwork in centralized artwork management system.
• Work with multi-country teams to develop packaging for India-produced products for export and meet country-specific quality requirements.
• Achieve cost-saving targets through changes, reduction, reuse, productivity improvements, localization, and transportation cost reductions.

Job Description

• Design, create and maintain specifications for consumer and healthcare packaging materials (mainly film, paperboard, rigid plastic and transport packaging) that wrap the various products produced in 3M plant and 3rd Party Vendors.
• Collaborate with internal functions (Marketing, R&D, Product Stewardship, Manufacturing, Quality Assurance, Procurement and Logistics) and external partners like packaging material suppliers and 3rd Party Vendors to develop products from design to mass production.
• Develop new packaging structures, especially switching to environmentally friendly materials (recycled materials, paper materials, mono-material packaging materials, reusable packaging materials) and propose their introduction in other countries.
• Meet India packaging material regulations – make packaging materials recyclable, add recycled content in pack and develop reusable packaging material.
• Support Product Stewardship with packaging material data for EPR reporting.
• Improve the quality, functionality and efficiency of packaging materials based on requests from internal and external customers.
• Support marketing with packaging material die-line, approve artwork in centralized artwork management system.
• Co‑work with multiple countries team to develop packaging materials to be produced in India for products exported and fulfill the quality requirement from each country.
• Achieve cost saving targets through packaging material change, reduction, reuse, productivity improvements, localization, transportation cost reduction etc.
