Job description

Every day, thousands of Lenskart customers sit across from an optometrist and trust them with their vision. As Optometry & Clinical Excellence Leader, you decide what that moment looks like - for every one of them, across every store, everywhere in India.

This isn't a role that runs someone else's clinical program. It's the role that writes the playbook - the protocols, the certification ladder, the quality bar - that every optometrist in our network builds their practice on. If you've spent your career practicing excellent optometry and now want to define what excellent optometry means at national scale, this is that move.

What You'll Own
  • Design and own the optometry excellence framework - the clinical protocols, refraction quality standards, and patient experience benchmarks that every Lenskart touchpoint is built on.
  • Lead a team of regional optometry trainers and clinical coordinators, with full accountability for their coaching, development, and performance.
  • Run end-to-end training, certification, and continuous professional development for the optometry workforce at genuine scale.
  • Build and govern data-driven dashboards to track clinical KPIs and outcomes; drive audits and quality reviews across the store network.
  • Identify workforce skill gaps and design targeted upskilling - e-learning, blended formats, and hands-on clinical workshops.
  • Partner with academic institutions and professional bodies (COI, IOIA) to benchmark clinical practice - and help shape where the profession is heading.
  • Work with Product, Technology, and Retail Ops to embed clinical standards into store workflows and digital tools.
  • Represent Lenskart externally - conferences, academic tie-ups, and industry forums - as the face of its optometry practice.
Continuous Improvement Charters You'll Drive

This role carries direct ownership of the structured initiatives that raise clinical quality, efficiency, and professional standards network-wide.

  • Refraction accuracy programme - Set baseline metrics, run periodic audits, and lead root-cause cycles to systematically lift refraction accuracy scores across the network.
  • Competency certification ladder - Design and iterate a tiered competency framework for optometrists, entry-level through advanced practitioner, with structured assessments and recognition pathways.
  • Eye exam NPS improvement - Use patient feedback data to find experience gaps, co-design SOPs with store teams, and track NPS movement at the clinical touchpoint.
  • Clinical SOP review cycle - Lead quarterly reviews and updates of all clinical SOPs, incorporating field learnings, technology shifts, and evolving clinical evidence.
  • Digital refraction tool adoption - Drive rollout and adoption of autorefractors, digital phoropters, and tech-assisted exam tools, with training, compliance tracking, and outcome measurement.
  • Training impact measurement - Build Kirkpatrick-aligned evaluation frameworks that link learning outcomes directly to on-floor clinical performance.
What You Bring
  • B.Optom / M.Optom from a recognised university; advanced certification in clinical optometry or healthcare management is a plus.
  • 10+ years in the optometry domain with clear progression into a senior or leadership role.
  • Prior experience in at least one of: an optometry/eyecare operations management role, Assistant Professor or above at an optometry institution, or a senior optometry training/L&D role.
  • Deep clinical grounding in refraction, contact lens practice, binocular vision, and low vision; familiarity with quality systems and clinical audits preferred.
  • Strong program and portfolio management skills - able to plan, execute, and track large initiatives across geographies.
  • Excellent communication across leadership, academic, and store-floor audiences.
  • Data fluency - able to read clinical and operational metrics and turn them into action.
  • Experience designing curricula or structured learning journeys; instructional design knowledge is a plus.
  • Exposure to Lean, PDCA, Six Sigma, or equivalent continuous-improvement methodologies.
  • An entrepreneurial mindset - comfortable building processes from the ground up in a fast-moving environment.
Why This Role
  • You'll set the clinical standard an entire industry watches. Lenskart's scale means the protocols you write don't guide a handful of clinics - they shape how India experiences eye care.
  • You'll have a seat that doesn't really exist elsewhere. Most senior optometry roles ask you to execute a program someone else designed; this one asks you to architect it.
  • You'll build with real resources behind you - technology, data, and a fast-growing store network - not just a mandate and a slide deck.
  • Competitive, performance-linked compensation that reflects the seniority of this mandate.

If you've ever looked at how optometry is practiced in retail and thought "I could build this better" - we want to talk to you.

Lenskart is an equal opportunity employer. We celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all professionals.
