Job summary

CERATIZIT India Pvt. Ltd in Attibele, Karnataka, is seeking a skilled Cylindrical Grinding Operator to manufacture precision carbide and steel cutting tools.

You will set up and operate grinding machines, read engineering drawings, and ensure tight tolerances in a fast-paced production environment. You will perform wheel dressing, conduct in-process inspections with micrometers and dial gauges, maintain 5S standards, and contribute to continuous improvement, safety, and quality documentation

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of experience in cylindrical grinding of carbide and steel cutting tools.
• Ability to read engineering drawings and process specifications.
• Knowledge of safety practices and machine maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Perform cylindrical grinding of carbide and steel cutting tools as per specifications.
• Set up and operate grinding machines independently.
• Ensure dimensional accuracy and quality standards are met.
• Conduct in-process inspections and maintain production records.
• Follow safety and quality procedures at all times.
• Perform wheel dressing and basic machine adjustments to maintain grinding performance.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, process sheets, and work instructions.
• Monitor machine performance and report any abnormalities or maintenance requirements.
• Maintain workplace cleanliness and follow 5S practices in the production area.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives to reduce scrap and improve productivity.

Profile & Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of experience in cylindrical grinding operations.
• Strong hands-on experience in grinding of carbide and steel cutting tools.
• Good knowledge of cylindrical grinding machines, wheel selection, and machine setup.
• Ability to achieve close tolerances and maintain high-quality surface finishes.
• Experience in inspecting components using measuring instruments such as micrometres, verniers, and dial gauges.
• Understanding of cutting tool manufacturing processes and quality requirements.
• Ability to read engineering drawings and process specifications.
• Knowledge of safety practices and machine maintenance.
