The Great Eastern Shipping Co. Ltd is seeking an Operations Superintendent in Worli, Mumbai to oversee safe and cost-effective vessel operations across a fleet of 3-5 ships.
You will coordinate with Technical, Fleet Personnel, HSEQ and Chartering teams to ensure voyages meet schedule and charter requirements. Applicants should hold a Master Mariner with at least 2 years of command on tankers and up to 2 years shore-based operational experience.
As an Operations Superintendent, you will be responsible for ensuring seamless order fulfilment for clients by overseeing safe, efficient, and cost-effective execution of vessel operations. Managing a fleet of 3-5 vessels, you will work closely with the Technical, Fleet Personnel, HSEQ, and Chartering teams to ensure voyages are completed as planned and in full compliance with charter party requirements.
Reporting to the Group Head Operations, the role requires ensuring that all assigned vessels remain cargo-worthy, seaworthy, and commercially ready at all times, while upholding the highest standards of safety, operational excellence, and regulatory compliance.
Monitor daily fleet movements and vessel operations to ensure efficient voyage execution and timely port turnarounds.
Ensure strict compliance with charter party terms and conditions.
Coordinate with port agents, terminals, and authorities to optimize cargo operations.
Advise Masters on cargo planning, vessel stability, cargo segregation, and safe stowage practices.
Provide operational support to maximize vessel utilization and commercial performance.
Support and monitor implementation of the Company's Safety Management System (SMS).
Coordinate with vessel Masters to ensure navigation and cargo operations are conducted safely and in accordance with Company procedures, statutory regulations, and industry best practices.
Promote a strong safety culture across the fleet.
Serve as a key member of the Company's Shore-Based Emergency Response Team (ERT).
Provide operational support during emergencies and critical incidents on a 24/7 basis.
Assist in incident reporting, investigation, and implementation of corrective actions.
Provide nautical and operational guidance to Masters and Deck Officers.
Review performance of senior deck officers and identify development and training needs.
Conduct pre-joining briefings for Masters and Chief Officers, particularly for specialized trades, routes, and charterer requirements.
Monitor and control operational expenditure within approved budgets.
Coordinate closely with Technical and Fleet Personnel teams to ensure operational readiness and timely resolution of vessel-related issues.
Manage operational expenses, including charts, publications, and other voyage-related requirements.
