Job summary

Vertiv in Ambernath, Maharashtra, India, is seeking a Junior Plant Controller to own the factory P&L, track hourly rates and drive KPIs. The role sits in Operations Finance and reports to the Plant Controller – Ambernath Annex.

CMA certified candidates with 3–4 years in manufacturing plant finance are preferred. The position requires strong CAS/Ind AS knowledge, Oracle ERP experience (GL, Costing, Inventory) and advanced Excel skills.

Responsibilities

  • Factory P&L ownership with monthly closure and cost tracking
  • Monitor hourly rate (cost per hour) and variances; present trends to leadership
  • Own plant KPIs: Efficiency, Productivity, Earned Hours, Conversion Cost per Hour
  • Track productivity savings with project wise breakdown and YTD impact
  • Analyze PDSL Forecast vs Actuals and identify gaps
  • Review and track rate contracts; support cost negotiations with data
  • Headcount hired vs. required; analyze manpower cost per unit
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, MIS and bridge analyses (Actuals vs Budget)
  • Handle Oracle ERP plant accounting transactions: JVs, accruals, reconciliations
  • Ensure compliance with Ind AS and CAS; support audits with plant docs

Position Overview

Position: Junior Plant Controller

Location: Ambernath Annex — IS & Switchgear Factory, Maharashtra, India

Reports To: Plant Controller – Ambernath Annex

Experience: 3–4 Years

About the Role

This is a core plant finance role — youll be sitting at the plant, working closely with operations, and owning the numbers that drive manufacturing performance. From tracking hourly rates to building the factory P&L, youll be the finance partner the plant relies on daily. Key Responsibilities
1. Factory P&L Ownership
  • Prepare and maintain the monthly Factory P&L for the Ambernath Annex — IS & Switchgear Factory
  • Track fixed vs. variable costs, analyse deviations, and flag margin risks early
  • Ensure timely and accurate monthly cost closure
2. Hourly Rate Tracking & Analysis
  • Capture, compute, and monitor the plant hourly rate (cost per hour) on a monthly basis
  • Analyse movement in hourly rates — volume-driven vs. cost-driven variances
  • Present hourly rate trends and bridge analysis to plant leadership
3. Plant KPIs & Operational Excellence
  • Own and report key plant KPIs — Efficiency %, Productivity %, Earned Hours, Conversion Cost per Hour
  • Drive Plant Operational Excellence by partnering with operations to identify cost levers and track improvement actions
  • Prepare monthly plant performance scorecards
4. Productivity Savings
  • Track and validate productivity savings initiatives at the plant level
  • Maintain a savings tracker with clear project-wise breakdowns and YTD impact
  • Coordinate with operations and CI teams to quantify and sign off on realized savings
5. PDSL (Promise Date Service Level) Analysis
  • Analysis of PDSL Forecast v/s Actuals
  • Gaps in Understanding why PDSL was not met
6. Rate Contracts & Vendor Rate Management
  • Review and track rate contracts for key plant services (labour, maintenance, logistics, consumables)
  • Monitor vendor rates against benchmarks and flag deviations
  • Support procurement finance in rate negotiations with cost data and spend analytics
7. Headcount Analysis — Hired vs. Required
  • Maintain and report monthly Headcount Hired vs. Headcount Required for the plant (permanent + contract)
  • Analyse manpower cost per unit and productivity per head
  • Flag over/under-staffing and support workforce planning with data
8. Budgeting, Forecasting & MIS
  • Support annual budgets and periodic rolling forecasts (4+8, 8+4) for plant costs
  • Prepare plant-level MIS and flash reports
  • Build bridge analysis — Actuals vs. Budget vs. Prior Year
9. Oracle ERP Operations
  • Handle day-to-day plant accounting transactions in Oracle — JVs, cost uploads, accruals, reconciliations
  • Ensure correct cost centre and account mapping
  • Generate reports and extracts from Oracle for analysis
10. Compliance & Standards
  • Ensure all plant accounting is in line with applicable Accounting Standards (Ind AS) and Cost Accounting Standards (CAS)
  • Support internal/external audits with plant-level documentation
  • Maintain strong internal controls over plant financial processes
Must-Have Skills & Qualifications
  • Qualification: CMA (ICMAI) — Qualified
  • Experience: 3–4 years in a manufacturing plant finance / plant controlling role
  • Accounting Standards: Well-versed with Accounting Standards (Ind AS) and Cost Accounting Standards (CAS)
  • Industry: Core manufacturing (mandatory) — preferably heavy engineering, electrical, or process industry
  • ERP: Hands-on Oracle ERP experience (GL, Costing, Inventory modules)
  • Cost Accounting: Strong understanding of CAS, standard costing, variance analysis, absorption costing
  • Communication: Strong verbal and written communication — can present to plant leadership confidently
  • Excel: Advanced — pivots, lookups, large data handling, dashboard-level MIS
Good to Have
  • Exposure to Earned Hours methodology and conversion cost frameworks
  • Experience working with intercompany (ICO) transactions or contract manufacturing setups
  • Familiarity with CapEx tracking and project accounting
  • Understanding of energy cost analysis and utility rate tracking
