Job summary

Hanwha Ocean is seeking a Senior Static Engineer for the Energy Plant unit in Noida to deliver advanced static equipment / skid solutions for power plant and petrochemical projects.

The role involves design, technical validation, and compliance with industry standards through FEED and detailed engineering, with global client interfaces and possible travel to the US, Europe, and Asia.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• 10+ years of experience with 5+ years in Power Plants (Onshore EPC).
• Experience with PV Elite and Compress software.
• Strong knowledge of ASME, API, TEMA codes and materials of construction.
• Ability to work independently and in a multidisciplinary team; strong attention to detail.
• Fluent in English, with strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Head of Discipline / Lead Engineer and mentoring junior engineers.
• Provide advanced expertise and knowledge to select Static Equipment/package during the conceptual design / proposal phase.
• Prepare specifications, datasheets, MRs, TBEs for Pressure Vessels, Heat Exchangers, Separators, Storage Tanks, Heat Recovery Steam Generator, Waste Water Treatment and other static package items.
• Design static equipment like Pressure Vessels, Heat Exchangers, Separators, Tanks and other static items, performing calculations to ensure structural integrity.
• Review vendor proposals, prepare technical bid clarifications, attend clarification meetings. Review and approve vendor data and deliverables.
• Ensure all equipment meets industry standards and comply with rule and regulatory requirements.

Position Overview

The Senior Static Engineer is a senior technical expert responsible for execute the project and providing advanced technical guidance for Static equipment /skid related engineering activities in the Energy Plant unit specially in power plant division and Petrochemical industries.

This role involves developing innovating engineering solutions, ensuring compliance with industry standards, developing corporate technical standards/procedures/ standard specification/ Design Philosophy/Design Basis, workflow and keep them updated, integral, practical and fit to purpose with incorporating Project Lesson Learns.

The Senior Static Equipment Engineer plays a crucial role in project execution, from initial design through to final implementation, technical validation and quality assurance (input/output data accuracy, technical appropriateness, consistency, practicality, code, optimum solution and regulatory compliance) in executing awarded scope and Feasibility /Conceptual Study/Pre-FEED/FEED, EPCI Engineering for Gas based power plant and other Onshore facilities projects.

Senior Engineer will act as a key technical interface with clients and stakeholders for his job. This role may require frequent travel to the US, Europe, and Asia.

The strategic focus will also include providing support to Hanwha Ocean engineering teams based in USA/South Korea and elsewhere as necessary including Conceptual, pre-FEED and FEED for projects in the Petrochemicals and Energy Plant area in the future.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist the Head of Discipline / Lead Engineer and mentoring junior engineers.
• Provide advanced expertise and knowledge to select Static Equipment /package during the conceptual design / proposal phase and conduct specific studies during the basic and detailed engineering phases.
• Preparation and checking of engineering deliverables such as specifications, datasheets, MRs, TBEs for Pressure Vessels, Heat Exchangers, Separators, Storage Tanks, Heat Recovery Steam Generator, Waste Water Treatment, Water Treatment and other static package items.
• Design static equipment like Pressure Vessels, Heat Exchangers, Separators, Tanks and other static items, performing calculations to ensure structural integrity.
• Review of vendor proposals, prepare technical bid clarifications, attend clarification meetings. Review and approve vendor data and deliverables.
• Ensure all equipment meets industry standards and comply with rule and regulatory requirements.
• Provide expertise input for risk assessment in engaging with vendors, conduct manufacturing facilities visit to gather information that support detailed engineering activities, and to obtain feedback on manufacturing limitations, testing, lead times etc.
• Participate in project planning, scheduling, and progress tracking.
• Assist in resolving technical issues during the fabrication, installation & commissioning phases.
• Review and approve the work of less experienced team members to ensure quality and accuracy.
• Troubleshoot and solve technical problems encountered during project execution.
• Participate in design reviews, risk assessments, and technical discussions to ensure robust engineering solutions.
• Answer general queries arising from clients, contractors or internal company departments on aspects related to rotating equipment.
• Prepare formal responses to comments from classification societies and clients on specifications, drawings, etc.
• Maintain accurate records of design changes, decisions, and project milestones.
• Ensure all documentation is complete and compliant with project requirements and quality management systems.
• Provide engineering review and support for bid proposal including estimate of manhour and cost.
• Raise Technical Queries towards the client’s project documents, Design basis to ensure all scopes of work and design basis are clarified.
• Manage interface with all relevant disciplines to get necessary information for engineering or to provide data to other disciplines for their engineering
• Report Area of Concerns, Progress and Plan to Head of Discipline
• Conduct feasibility studies, Pre-FEED, FEED, FEED Verification (Inception of EPCI Phase) and EPCI phase Engineering

Qualifications

• Minimum bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum 10 years working experience with 5 years’ experience in Power Plant (Onshore EPC contractor).
• Experience with software such as PV Elite, Compress etc.
• Deep understanding of ASME, API, TEMA codes, international codes & standards and material of construction.
• Ability to work effectively independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team, with strong attention to detail and accuracy. ability to manage multiple priorities
• Ability to work with and to communicate effectively with co-workers, vendors, clients and manage multiple priorities.
• Fluent in English, with strong oral and written communication skills
