Job description
The Tax Audit Assistant supports our Tax and Audit functions by assisting in tax compliance and audit engagements. This job role involves preparing documentation, performing compliance work supporting tax audit assignments, and maintaining records in line applicable regulations and audit standards. Candidates will gain practical exposure to direct and indirect tax procedures as well as audit practices.
Required Candidate profile
Tax Compliance & Support
- Assist in preparation and filing of Income Tax Returns for individuals, firms, Trusts, LLPs, and companies.
- Support Tax Audit assignments under Section 44AB of the Income Tax Act, including preparation of Form 3CD schedules and working papers.
- Assist in TDS compliance computation, reconciliation, return filing, and documentation.
- Support GST compliance return filing (GSTR-1, GSTR-3B, GSTR-9/9C) and preparation of reconciliations.
- Maintain and update client tax records and compliance trackers.
Audit & Documentation
- Assist in internal audit engagements data collection, vouching, verification etc.
- Prepare audit working papers and documentation in compliance with audit standards and as per our procedures.
- Support financial statement reviews and assist in preparing audit reports.
- Coordinate with engagement teams to ensure timely delivery of audit tasks.
Client Interaction & Support
- Interact with clients to collect data and clarify queries related to tax and audit information.
- Ensure accurate and well-organized work papers, compliance checklists, and supporting documents.
Administration & Software
- Use accounting and tax software (e.g., Tally, Winman, Excel etc) for preparation and reconciliation tasks.
- Maintain proper filing of client correspondence, reports, and statutory submissions.
Qualifications & Skills
Educational Requirements
- B.Com / M.Com in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
- CA Intermediate / CA Final (drop-out) or Articleship experience in a CA firm is strongly preferred.
Experience
- 13 years of experience in audit, tax compliance, or related CA firm practice preferred.
Technical Skills
- Understanding of Income Tax, GST, and TDS laws.
- Familiarity with statutory and tax audit procedures and accounting standards.
- Proficiency in MS Excel, Tally (or similar accounting software) etc.
Preferences:
The placement will be at Mumbai office and preference will be given to those born and brought up in Mumbai respectively and having experience with a medium size CA Firm
Salary: Salary based on Experience and Expertise
