Job summary

NxtWave Disruptive Technologies is seeking a Senior Developer / Tech Lead to steer backend architecture and deliver core fintech capabilities remotely, with head office in Mumbai.

You will own Python services, APIs, data models and integrations, mentor a ~10-person team, and collaborate across Product, Design and Compliance to ship reliable, scalable software.

Experience in wealth tech, payments, broker/custodian integrations and CI/CD is highly valued.

• 6+ years of professional software-engineering experience with ownership of production backend systems.
• Strong Python experience across APIs, services, data models, queues, integrations and tests.
• Experience leading or mentoring a team ~10 developers.
• Track record shipping reliable products in fintech/wealth-tech/payments or similar high-trust env.
• Strong understanding of relational DBs, API design, async processing, event-driven workflows and observability.
• Hands-on AWS/GCP experience: CI/CD, IaC, containers, monitoring and incident response.

Senior Developer / Tech Lead

What You Will Own

• Lead backend architecture and implementation for core investment, portfolio, analytics and platform capabilities.
• Build and maintain production systems in Python, including APIs, business workflows, integrations, background jobs, webhooks, reconciliation and operational tooling.
• Work closely with React Native engineers to define clean API contracts, predictable states, useful error handling and maintainable mobile integrations.
• Translate product requirements into technical designs, data models, state machines, service boundaries, implementation plans and test strategies.
• Take ownership of difficult production workflows involving payments, mandates, broker or custodian integrations, order lifecycles, asynchronous callbacks, data freshness and reconciliation.
• Establish practical engineering standards for code quality, testing, observability, documentation, release discipline and incident response.
• Review code consistently and thoughtfully; merge changes when they meet the required quality, safety and maintainability bar.
• Mentor junior developers through design reviews, pairing, code reviews, debugging and clear technical feedback.
• Lead technical decomposition and delivery for projects across mutual funds, Indian equities, U.S. stocks, wealth aggregation and financial analytics.
• Partner with Product, Design, Operations, Compliance and external technology providers to make sound trade-offs between speed, quality, risk and cost.
• Improve the developer experience : local setup, environments, CI/CD, test feedback, debugging workflows, documentation and deployment confidence.
• Build a security-minded engineering culture appropriate for a fintech product handling sensitive identity, financial and investment data.
• Evaluate and apply AI tools and techniques where they create real leverage.
• Help define the future engineering organisation, hiring plan, technical roadmap and operating cadence as the company grows.

What We Are Looking For

• 6+ years of professional software-engineering experience, including meaningful ownership of production backend systems.
• Strong Python experience across APIs, services, data models, queues/jobs, integrations and tests.
• Strong React Native experience, or enough mobile-platform fluency to lead the backend/mobile contract and review React Native code.
• Experience leading or mentoring a team of approximately 10 developers, formally or informally.
• A track record of shipping reliable products in a startup, fintech, wealth-tech, payments, brokerage or other high-trust environment.
• Strong understanding of relational databases, API design, asynchronous processing, event-driven workflows, caching, queues, webhooks, idempotency and observability.
• Solid infrastructure and DevOps experience, preferably on AWS or GCP : CI/CD, infrastructure-as-code, containerisation, secrets management, monitoring, alerting, backups and incident response.
• Practical knowledge of fintech security and compliance: access control, encryption, audit trails, data privacy, secure SDLC, vulnerability management and audit readiness.
• Strong code-review judgement: you identify correctness, security, performance and reliability risks without blocking progress unnecessarily.
• Hands-on AI experience : foundation-model APIs, AI-enabled workflows, retrieval or tool-calling, evaluation and guardrails, or AI-assisted development.
• Clear written and verbal communication, a coaching mindset, and high ownership from design through deployment and support.

Strong Differentiators

• Built or operated financial products involving money movement, investment orders, portfolios, broker or custodian integrations, market data or reconciliation.
• Worked with regulated fintech security, compliance or audit programmes in India or another major financial market.
• Led a team through a meaningful scale-up in codebase, traffic, product surface or engineering headcount.
• Designed systems that safely handle pending, retryable, failed, duplicate and reconciled states.
• Built customer-facing mobile products in React Native alongside Python services.
• Hired engineers, established engineering rituals or managed delivery across multiple teams.
